Ok i got a goodrich stainless steel clutch line with my clutch and flyhweel. I thought it would just replace the short rubber hose on the slave cylinder but it's about twice as long. It also has a bango bolt on the end so i assumed it just replced the whole slave cylinder assembly with just a straight line. Everything works fine but i just wanted to make sure its all ok b/c i heard from other people that the clutch line doesn't replace the whole slave cylinder....

Wait what?? Then how did i replace it? A banjo bolt doesn't hook up to the slave cylinder. The short rubber line has a threaded bolt on both ends, no banjo bolt at all. The ss line has a banjo bolt on one end and a threded on the other. The hardened steel line coming from the slave cylinder has a banjo bolt, so my buddy and i just assumed it replaced the whole slave clylinder. We took it out and it works great but i'm so confused. I'm talking about the slave clyinder infront of the tranny that has the hardened steel line coming from it and the stock rubber line too.

All the stainless kits I've ever seen only replace the line from the slave to where the rubber connects to the steel tube that goes to the master cyl. Not all the line from slave to master cyl.

ok i need some clarificatioin here maybe i didn't pull the slave cylinde rout of my car. I thought the slave cylinder has a round cylinder tubbe about 2 inches in diamter and 3 -4 inches high with a hardened steel tube coming from the cbottom that curves in all sorts of ways and ends with a banjo bolt. Out of the top is another hardened steel tube that connects to the soft rubber line. The stainless line i got repaced that whole assembly with one stright line. Am i suppoosed to keep this piece or what? The line wouldn't have bolted on any other way....

You guys are both confused. The thing you're referring to is not the slave cylinder but a fluid reservoir to slow the release of the clutch. Below is a pic of the reservoir, it shows the length that is replaced by the SS line.

This is a pic of the slave cylinder, it is the small metal piece with the piston that pushes against the clutch fork.

Yeah thats exactly what i replaced. So the stsinless steel line does replace that whole damn assembly but its not called a slave cylinder. Hmm, i learn somewthing new everyday. The clutch line didn't come with instruction so we just pulled that whole thing out b/c it was most obvious the line bolts up that way.

The first pic is of the fluid reservoir that is bolted to the front of the tranny. It's job is to slow the release of the clutch and reduce feedback through the clutch pedal. It also makes your clutch slip when you shift fast cause it doesn't grab as quick as it could with that thing gone. The second pic is of the slave cylinder, it's the metal object bolted to the block that you screwed that SS line into with the banjo bolt.

Take your pick, any of the vendors on this site can get it for you.

By the way it's a braided stainless steel line from the master cylinder to the slave.

Good job bumping a 12 year old thread guys.

If they have a legitimate question regarding the same topic, why does he need to open another thread about it? I'd say, good job using the search button. We could only wish most peeps would actually serch and compliment an existing thread instead of opening a new one with the same stuff. A baby dolphin dies everytime somebody opens another "How much power with an FP68HTA" thread ...

The line can be found just about in any vendor as Yomero mentioned, it completely replaces the clutch regulator system. My suggestion it to also get the slave cyl extender rod while at it and remove the little strainer inside the clutch slave cyl. That will provide you the most pedal travel possible.

Cheers!

I disagree. Do not extend the rod. It is a bandaid. It only works at the expense of other things.
