I don't think the Toughguard are that bad though, so maybe to save my life.
It keeps the oil filter "primed" (filled). The turbo has that great big drain on the bottom of it that goes straight to the sump. In the course of a week, an engine oil (synth or real) will leave enough of a film that it won't start up dry, but the pump's getting oil to the complete system within five seconds anyway- even if it has to "fill" a filter on the way.Originally posted by nine5raptor
Those are the only 2 I know of for sure that have the anti-backflow valve on them (keeps the turbo primed).

I use a quart of lucas oil added to the mobil one synthetic( it can be used for up to 60% total volume of oil but that is way too much) .... that shit is thick. Car runs cooler but I think I can hear a valve tapping now- unsure if that is related or not... oh and a wix oil filter
Only $8.50?! Holy Shiznit!Originally posted by vlaar
Cheapest place to buy royal purple? Here in Gainesville, it's 8.50 a qt. at Carquest.

Pretty sure most filters have a anti-drain back valve.... I haven't heard of one that hasn't. I wouldn't use a Fram filter to save my life. I don't think the Toughguard are that bad though, so maybe to save my life. There is a study somewhere online that did a bit of research on different types of oil filters. The WIX filter was a very well constructed filter. Some of the lowest grade filters were Fram. I may be wrong so don't quote me on it.![]()
