Do you have to tune for nitrous?

THis is just for something down the road after I build up my car. Do you have to tune for nitrous? Also on a previous post can you have several map settings for road and a nitrous custom map setting on the MSNS?
 
I've been running nitrous for a while now and all I really did to adjust my tune was back off timing a little bit. The rest of the tuning for the N2O was done by changing fuel jets until I achieved my target AFR. This is on E85 BTW.
 
i do not have nitrous on my dsm i do on my 2000 mustang gt and i run a 150 shot and if u run a dry setup you need to tune but if u run a wet setup you do not need to tune as the correct amount of gas is added thru the jets as nitrous is added

This is correct. Most dry kits now a days are advertised as "bolt on and go" as they are sprayed through the maf. I personally wouldn't trust it with a significant sized shot and would tune for it.
 
The wet kit sprays fuel and gas in at same time so its correct ratio. The dry kit only uses nitrous no gas. I Would use the wet kit personally
 
Actually the ZEX dry kit (the on I'm selling!!!) has a brain. Run the nitrous line though it and hook up the vacuum lines that run from the intake manifold to the fuel pressure regulator and it automatically bumps fuel pressure to compensate for the nitrous. Something like that is also a great way to get a large turbo spooled quicker.

this is also a true statement but the problem with these systems is that they can freeze the maf and screw stuff up. also I have never seen this work on turbo applications. i have seen a kit ran like this on a turbo car that blew the intercooler off and destroyed the turbine wheel when the guy didnt shift right and it back fired through the intake, it wasnt pretty
 
imo nitrous is not a very good mod for our cars. What is the biggest size shot you can run? maybe a 75 shot but that may be pushing it. There are other modifications that can get you the power you are hoping for that are less risky. If you to be cool and have the nitrous stickier go for a larger displacement engine imo.
 
i have never seen a nitrous kit that you run before the maf i have always seen them after the maf and before the intake i was told when i installed mine the the closer to the intake the better less time for it to scatter? and make sure it sprays directly into the intake and not backwards towards the maf and air filter
