Hi guys,

do you really need to prime the lifters if you already primed the oil pump? I just installed a rebuilt motor but I didn't do the job myself so I was wondering if I have to make sure the lifters are primed so as not to have problems when starting for the first time.

..for if you don't, you can kiss those valves goodbye when they get smacked by the pistons. After you fully bled then and reinstalled, then you slowly roll the motor over by hand with a spanner on the pulley - with the plugs out so you don't have any compression to work against you - for if you suddenly feel some resistance, you can back off on that spanner real quick and check to see if you got a valve kissing a piston due to a lifter that still needs bleeding.
