Got some new 3g lifters brand new in box. Do I still have to bleed them or can I just throw them right in?

I ordered mine from JAM and they came pre-bleed. It wouldn't hurt to bleed them if there is nothing saying that it had not been done before. They should have a little compression in them.

Yes. It's good practice even if they're new. You are bleeding out any oil to make sure they can be fully compressed. If not, there is the possibility of them holding the valves open.

I just collapse them, throw them in, and let the engine idle awhile to pump them up. Works great and no worries about valve sticking open.

I'd be afraid of a rocker falling off OMG. OP yes your suppose to bleed them see the vfaq for the how to

This really happens ^ that happened to me, 4k miles later last fri, we found it, thats been my problem all along and luckily it didnt cause damage.

From the service manual:

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINTS
LASH ADJUSTER INSTALLATION
(1) Immerse the lash adjuster in clean diesel fuel.
(2) Using the special tool (MD998442), move the plunger
up and down 4 or 5 times while pushing down lightly
on the check ball to bleed out the air.

The special tool can be just a thin piece of wire.

Just curious what symptoms you were having as a result of this?
