Resolved Do I need stand alone?!

I have a quick question.. When upgrading to a 50 trim, tunning comes into play. However i have a S-AFC, i know i will be able to change my fuel curves and my air ratio's but will that be all i need or will i need a stand alone to change my timing and all that?!

check this out www.dsmlink.com there are many people using it to dial in 50trims and bigger, with massive injectors etc. Read the faq it tells you what it can do

You can get by with the AFC and datalogger for a little while though. There are plenty doing it. But I would suggest going with the DSMLink or standalone type software.

I would not got with a standalone unless you are very comfortable w/ your tuning abilities. DSMlink all the way, it's more than you'll probably ever need and way cheaper.

yeah i looked into dsm link b4 but its pricey and all that.. but still can i do my timing with the S-AFC or neg.

you want DSMlink to make big power. an SAFC is very limited. an SAFC might hold you over for awhile, but DSMlink is what you want for max power potential. stand alones are far more costly compared to DSMlink.

The SAFC will affect your timing in a bad way. When you compensate for larger injectors then you get higher timing. You cannot directly change your timing with the SAFC. For that you need something different. Save up for DSMLink it's well worth it.

A SAFC should last you more than what you need. A DSMLink is BETTER, but not required unless you want max tuning. A local club members runs 11's on a 50trim and a SAFC, and he'll be the first to admit he's not the world's greatest tuner.

Once you get past a certain point, your drivability will start to suffer, because the ECU can only be "fooled" so much before problems show up. Thats where the DSMLink comes in. The DSMLink has people into the 9's, so unless you think you are going faster than that, you don't need a standalone.
