Do all 5spd FWD trannies fit 1g and 2g?

1G AWD trans is the same as the FWD turbo, plus a center differential. So no, it also won't fit in a 2G.

Now I'm curious about this 2g tranny in a 1g thing... to the search button!

ok now look here is the break down:

first main differences-

1G has 3 motor mounts and 1 tranny mount.

2G has 1 motor mount and 3 tranny mounts.

FWD:

1G can use 1990-1999 for 2G tranny they just use the 1 mount they always use

2G can only use 1995-1999 because 1990-1994 have the lack of the front and rear tranny mounts

AWD:

this is a little different here

understand this the tranny and transfer case is a paired thing here. 1990-1996 trannys have to use a 1990-1996 transfer case. and a 1997-1999 tranny has to be used with a 1997-1999 transfercase.the reason this is the gear ratio in the final drive has one more tooth on the ring gear in the 1997-99 and the transfer case has to match the ratio, otherwise you will burn out the viscous coupler in the transfer case or the lsd in the rear end due to the front wheels turning at different speeds than the rear wheels.

now with that said the 1G can use 1990-1999 awd trannys as long as they use the matching transfercase.

2G can only use a 2G tranny again as long as the transfercase matches.

this is all for turbo cars GST's and GSX's

as far as the 2G NT's go they are completely different with the tranny on the drivers side not passenger side. i believe the 1G NT will work in a turbo car but the tranny is different inside with the gear ratios and syncs.

hope this helps clarify this for everyone.

just to further complicate the question here.....

A 1g FWD tranny will bolt to a 2G FWD and work, it just doesnt use the same mounting points? Ive got a 2g that Im yanking the drivetrain out of and putting into a formula car, so I don't care if it mounts properly into the car or not, just if one will work or not. did I read things right?
