Alright well im looking for basicly a parts list of everything needed to swap my 1g fwd 5spd to auto.....

And yes i have searched but all i have found was awd auto swaps, if anybody could point me in the right direction that would be great!

Thanks!

If you look around you more than likely can find a auto shell and just swap your parts over. Also is the car staying fwd?

Trust me, i have looked for an auto fwd/awd shell but there's none to be found so far in the many months of looking.....

Anti lag, thanks a TON!

I am also interested in this swap.I read through the post but didnt see a definitive list or parts needed. Maybe we can post one up in here.

Auto trans.
Flex plate,
Trans to engine plate.
Torque converter.
TCU, and harness.
Shifter, and cables
Trans mount
Front and rear engine mount?
Auto radiator, or separate trans cooler.

If anything needs to be added lets make a proper list, this is just a guess.

Would there be any benefit from using a 2g tranny?

Shouldn't be hard to make it work using the kiggly adapter kit, also allow you to run the upgraded flexplate which is nice since the stock ones like to break and its a pain to replace them. Would probably need a 2g starter, and tcu, not sure on the axles tho. I believe there was someone on here years ago who had a fwd mirage drag car running a 2g auto that was going real fast, might be some good info if you can find that thread.

I wish this was a more popular swap because I've always regretted getting the fwd auto and it would be nice to just swap drivetrains with someone and go manual. Although If I had a strictly drag car then it would be great with an LSD because these things are pretty damn solid with a shift kit, end clutches and trans cooler.

You are most welcome,,, loads of tech information in there ...:)

I see that!

Hmmm, from what i have read you dont really need the TCU/harness, from what i understand you can shift manually?

That is correct! Keep it simple and do the kiggly wire mod, use a hurst promatic shifter and enjoy manually shifting. It actually makes the auto more fun cause your shifting it still.
