this is the initial valve cover with out paint.

What kind of paint did you use?

Very nice! Is the gray layer primer? Did you sand off the red paint on the letters or paint over it again with gray?

maybe a dremel?

that's what i use atleast when i have to do lettering. makes it easy!

A knife and sandpaper works wonders when it comes to taking off the pain on the letters

i dont know what the OP uses, but I use high heat engine enamel stuff on all my engine bay parts. can be found in any auto parts store and comes in like 500degrees and 1200degrees or something like that.

one cool tricked i have learned over the years is to take a Q-tip and apply vasoline on the areas you do not want to paint... paint the valve cover and when it is dry take a cloth and wipe the vasoline off=no pain where vasoline.. works perfect..

Hey i was wondering if it would be easier to tape off the letters or just remove the paint afterwards? any ideas?

Don't use tape, think of all the curves you'll have to do. After you paint it just sand the paint off the letters. Don't make it sound to hard, it's very easy.
