Disconnected ISC... Bad Thing???

Ok, my idle was fluctuating and it was pissing me off. I found out it was a bad idle speed controller, so I disconnected the bastard... Problem solved. Idle is a little erratic, but it doesn't fluctuate. I was curious if there could be any negative effects of disconnecting that thing. I heard it would make me run a little rich, but thats it. Any thoughts???

Naw its fine. Some people completely remove them. Only down fall is then you have to tinker with the idle more in cold weather and warm weather.

The ISC does several useful things besides basic idle speed. The most useful is emulating a dashpot so that when you close the throttle the engine doesn't die. It also keeps the RPMs up when the throttle is closed and the car is rolling. Whenever the AC, PS or alternator (on a 2G) is loading the engine the ISC adjusts to keep the engine from loading down. As you've noticed the ISC also has a big role in cold starting.

Just because people disconnect/remove then doesn't mean it's a good thing.
