Well i found all my vacum leaks, so i decided to go drive the car. Did a couple of light pulls to 15 pounds. Well about 15 mins into trip i was finally out in the country so i stomped it for about 10 secs was hitting 20-22 pounds i dont really remember, because i was so busy :hellyeah:, cause the car finally works LOL. little while later i pass a car, and i started smelling oil:hmm: i pulled over dipstick was out oil was spelt all down my motor . I decided to drive the car home nice, and slow to make sure i didnt break down, but once i got near the house i stomped it some more, and when i got the house checked the dipstick, and it was still in.

Any ideas on what may have happened?

this happened to my friend's dsm and he has over 500hp, all he had to do was get a new dipstick because the rubber seal ontop had gone bad. When he got the new one he can bounce rev limiter at 8grand and have no probs, hope this helps

This issue has happened to me in the past and other people i know. I think just running that much boost pushes the dipstick out and makes a mess all over the motor. Either weld a little tap on the dipstick rod that goes threw the hole of the dipstick or i took a Ty rap or zip tie and went from the power steering pump around the handle of the dipstick. I left it loose enough to slide it off of the dipstick to check my oil but it holds the dipstick in place. I'm always up for a new idea. I plan to weld a tap on just haven't so the Ty rap was quick and easy.

Well when i was doing my boost leak test i felt air comming from there when i pulled the dipstick out, but one of my buddies told me that if it wasnt a big gust of air then its ok, but it seems like its enough to blow my damn dipstick out.

What about a bad crank seal? or cam seal?

I just put a new PCV valve in like 30 miles ago

I think a new dipstick would be the cheapest way to check, and then a compression test anyone else agree with me?

I'm to cheap to buy a new one and deal with the hassle of crushing the tube to seal it. I use a spring and a clamp to keep it held in.

How does that spring snap down if you could show me a pick of it closed i would appreciate it

This happened to me as well, and tends to happen in these cars at higher boost pressures. Just crimp the dipstick tube at the top so it grabs the dipstick harder.

A compression check is pretty easy to do as well. Not a bad idea.

I mean did this happen, because i have a bad seal on the dipstick, or just something that most people go through?

SD99GST I like that link you showed me, but i have never changed one of these before. Is it as easy as it looks? To me it looked like it needed a bolt to fasten it down, and it slides in, and out?

The problem that all of you are missing, excessive crank case pressure. You need to fix pr upgrade your pcv system. I have 2 -10an lines on the vc evacuating the blow by. I've never had a problem with my dipstick popping out after I upgraded the pcv system.

Are you using an OEM pcv valve, or a parts store one? The parts store vlaves are not made to handle boost, and they will leak right out of the box. Sometimes the OEM ones leak right out of the box too...

Happened to me also...boost leaks past the piston rings gets in the crankcase and blows the dipstick out....I made a thing that holds the dipstick down out of nail strip(strip of steel with holes in it)it bolts down using the heatshield bolt on the stock manifold. I just cut a notch in it to go over the top of the dipstick...just leave the bolt loose enough so you can move the piece of metal so you can slide it off the dipstick and pull the dipstick out

I'm not understanding what your saying, could you put that in simpler terms LOL.

Are you referring to Rockbmx1's statement about the -10 an lines? It's simple, when you have excessive pressure your dipstick can blow out, and it really has little to do with boost pressure. The OEM PCV valve is horrible at dealing with crankcase pressure issues, and any Auto Zone/Advance/O'reilly aftermarket one is really worth nothing more than a waste of money. I have a similar setup to Rockbmx1's but I have -8 an lines. One going to a catch can, and the other coming from the other side of the catch can going to where the PCV valve used to be. I never had any problems with my dipstick popping out though, even before this mod. There is a fitting coming off of the intake manifold that has a vac line going to the PCV valve. When doing the -an fitting mod for a catch can, that fitting on the intake manifold will need to be capped off with either a vac cap/ziptie or you can use a plug type fitting. Frankly I don't really trust anything that can be blown off under boost, so the plug type fitting will probably be best. It's all about personal preference though. If you have any more questions about that setup just hit up me or Rockbmx1, I'm sure he'd be happy to help just as i would. Sorry for the long post.
