Im running into a problem, ever since friday night, Ive noticed that under heavy boost I get oil coming out of the dipstick spout. Now I do have a 2G cut dipstick in my 1G talon, so I am thinking that may be the issue but I wanted to know if there was anything else I can check. I just changed the PCV valve and that seemed to have lessened the problem slightly. I did a compression test and the numbers are fine. I changed spark plugs and they were dry. I have no boost leaks at all. This is driving me crazy and Im afraid of fire.

Thanks guys, think going the extra mile for a Locking dipstick would help? And could I go to the mitsu stealership for one?

Yea the O-ring on the dipstick gets worn out over time, time for a new dipstick, or simply just replace the O-ring.

Or what I did was to make a strap that holds the dipstick down.

It's a common problem with the 4g63 motor...

The lockable dipstick sounds good.

I also have heard of others just crimping the dipstick tube a little bit, but it doesn't take much.

I tried plumbers tape last night, Raced a car and then parked it. the tape was blown completely off and the stick actually popped off from the pressure. The dipstick has no orings on it I noticed. What consists of your strap?

Just get a new oem dipstick, it's less than 20 bucks. For straps I've seen people just use big springs and put it around the top of the dipstick then hook it around something else to keep it tight

Well if you have the stock intake tube then it has 2 nipples on the sides of it, and what you want to do from here (if you do have the stock intake tube) is use the second one, which is on the bottom that is used for the evap system, just unplug it, plug up the evap hose, and then just run your pcv line to that nipple, and that should be able to pull enough vacuum out of the valve cover by using 2 instead of just 1 ports for pressure and get rid of your pressure in the crankcase because I have a 20g on 20psi and I have ZERO crankcase pressure and my dipstick litterally just slides in and out, so just try it out and do a few pulls and see what happens, hope it works.

Which will completely bypass the ventilation function of the PCV system and coat your intake with oil residue at the same time.

Investigate options for lowering crankcase pressure.

Best answer in the whole thread. Although replacing a worn out dipstick is obviously a good idea, you really should find out how much CC pressure you have, and if it's excessive...why.

Notice all the probationary members suggesting locking it down - terrible advice.. PieEyed and calan have it.

i want to run a catch can myself and do it the proper way with fittings in the valve cover and braided lines. my question is why do i need a vacuum source for the catch can, ive sean numerous 500+ hp turbo cars running a catch can with 2-3 filters on the top of it. this is my first turbo car and im doing a ton of reading and want to do things right the first time....

1. I posted a link to an article right up there ^^^^ that will answer that and many other related questions.

2. Please don't hijack people's threads...some of them don't take kindly to it. :)

Welcome to the site BTW ;)

True that, but I dont mind in this case, More info for me as well. I for now, crimped the tube and it helped a bit but I ordered a new OEM stick, and will fabricate a spring system. Ill be doing some reading on venting that pressure later as a permanent fix.

If ## getting that much CC I would look into ## piston rings as well for blow through. My 1g was doing this so i changed the piston rings out and it stopped. I know it is a big deal to change pistons rings but is very likely the culprit.
