Different ECU's will work?

Yes they are the exact same except for the speed limiter on the AWD have no speed limiter because they came with Z rated tire. FWD came with H rated tires therefore they had a limiter. So now you will have no speed limiter.
 
Im going to switch to a dsmlink and I cant take my ecu out to send it in cause I have to have my car for school and work, so Ill just buy one and send it in and then switch them out.
 
Yes, you can use it on your car. How heavily do you plan on modding? I looked at your profile and it seems you have some pretty decent mods. If you ever plan on using DSM Link I would look into an EPROM ecu, unless your getting a good deal or getting the ecu for free. An EPROM probably wouldn't cost you that much more and theres no sense in buying a 99 ecu if you plan in upgrading later.

EDIT: Guess your already ahead of me. How much are you paying for the 99 ecu? I've got an extra laying around, pm me if your interested.
 
hm ill look for a eprom one then, only the 95's have them right? the 99 ecu is 35 dollars so I thought id do that but if a eprom is better then ill look around for one of those.

My plan is to get to at least 300whp so im going to turbo swap again and all that nice stuff so I thought a dsmlink would be a good thing to have.

Becarefull not all the 95 models have Eprom. here is something to read.
 
if you go to www.ongreenperformance.com they sell 95 eproms for 300 with a warranty on them. I would deffinitly recoment this, and its a must have if you plan on getting dsmlink. You can still have this ecu without dsmlink but you will need to get a 95-96 CAS until your ready to spend the money on dsmlink.
 
Yea you need an EPROM. The packages at dsmlink.com are different because in one they will socket your EPROM for you and in the other you have to have someone else do it or do it yourself.
 
Here this might make it a little clearer for you:

Packages

When you order DSMLink, there are two "versions" or packages available. The first package (socket service) is the typical version where you have an unmodified EPROM ECU and would like to have DSMLink installed in it. The second package (EPROM only) is intended for those that have already had work done on their ECU by someone else.

Socket Service: If your ECU has not already been socketed by someone else, then you'll need to send us your ECU to have this work done. No DSM ECU comes from the factory with a socketed EPROM. So you'll *know* whether you've had it done before. If you don't know, then you haven't had it done. With this package, we'll socket the EPROM and install a DSMLink version in place of the factory EPROM. We'll then ship the factory EPROM back to you, unmodified, so that you can always revert back to factory mode if needed.

EPROM only: If your ECU is already socketed, then we can simply ship a new EPROM with DSMLink code on it. You can swap the chips yourself easily enough. It is possible, however, to bend or break pins and render a chip useless if you are careless. So if you're not comfortable with this yet you know your ECU has already been socketed, then feel free to send us your ECU and we'll do the swap at no charge.
