Okay, so after over two months, i finally got my new block from a shady machine shop that i will withhold the name of unless you want to PM me. Anyways, i was looking at the new shortblock and realized that there are some major differences in the tranny mounting holes. My 95 GSX tranny would be missing some bolts. Can someone tell me what is going on here???

Did you get a 6-bolt block I'm assuming or rebuilt the 7-bolt? If you have a 6-bolt and are bolting a 7 bolt AWD tranny up to it you will be fine, I'm assuming that is what you are wondering. It should only be missing 1 bolt anyways.

No, it's a 7-bolt block that was built (i know, i know, but crankwalk is covered under it's warranty so i'm not afraid). I have some pics now of the original(dirty) block and the new one. One hole is not even on the new block.

Those blocks don't even look remotely alike. Looks like you sent a 2.0L in and got a 2.4 back. That's really strange.

Yes, very strange indeed. Could this be an early 7-bolt block? Maybe even a n/t block?? My brother looked in it and said there are no oil squirters, and the block says 4G63 on it. I want my d@mn engine for my GSX to be right already  I have a Shep stage 3 tranny waiting to be used, and this is really getting on my nerves.

Looks like a 6-bolt block with 7 bolt crank. Maybe a late 1g 7-bolt block. Still not the one you took them though. I would bi***.

This is exactly why i hate not doing my own work. I would have built a 6-bolt myself, but didn't have the time, maybe i will send this one back and tell him to shove it, and give me my money back. I was thinking it may be a 1g 7-bolt, due to the irregular bolt holes.

I would do that too. Definatly looks to be a 1g 7-bolt block. Looks just like my block mouting wise. I would be irate with them. Probably a 4g63 N/T block.

I am going to call them later and ask them why the hell it took over 2 months (i was quoted 2-3 weeks) to send me the WRONG BLOCK. :notgood: It doesn't even have the right pistons i wanted ( ordered ross, got JE)

Okay, i have a quick update about the block, it appears that only one of the holes (top right) doesn't line up (like someone mentioned with a 6-bolt and an AWD Tranny) so is it okay to use the block?

If it were up to me and i wasnt 100% sure what to do, i would probley take it to a shop and see what there opinion on it is. Just to be sure........ :thumb:

I may do that, i have worked on car for many years, i'm just unsure about this block being different. I will ask my friend who is a head tech at mitsu, and another guy who owns a shop near me. The shop owner has a 1G AWD Talon.

Well, if he works for Mitsu, HECK YES!!!!! Lets say you do put this block on and three months down the road, something happens, maybe be critical, or it may not be, but to check and see if it is that bolt problem, pain in the neck to get to, and waste of time.. Otherwise yeah, if your friend works at mitsu and has time to take a look at it, go that route :dsm:

Alright, i will be sure to post up again when i get a definative answer from someone. If anyone on here knows if it's good to use or not, be sure to post up and help me out.

Alright devon, That is a 1g 7 bolt block. Probably a n/t since it doesnt have squirters but I wouldnt be worried about using it. If you need, I have the right backing plate to go on that block. The missing bolt hole will not affect anything as long as you have the 2 alignment dowel pins for the block to tranny. It would be the same as installing a 6 bolt into the car. And pm me the shop so I know to stay away from them.

Here, first is 1g awd 7 bolt without plate and the second is with the plate.

Thank you Keith! I was going to call you or something today and ask you about the block, but you already answered my question. I sent you a PM about the shop and the backing plate you have. Thanks for all the help. Oh, my name is spelled Devin (everyone spells it with an "o" before i tell them) just letting you know. Thanks for all the help man, i can't wait to get the GSX put back together.

Yeah, i ordered a replacement block, i just have to send in my core now. That's why i was wondering wtf the engine builder sent me.
