Did I Waste My Money? AEM UEGO.

Bought one and its on its way, but I just realized that I have no welding capabilities, and no idea how to hook something up into the ECU, I have never even seen the ECU outside of pictures

Figuring I may have wasted my money buying this since I will likely not be able to hook it up

If you can read and follow directions, you will likely be able to do it. You will just need to bring it to a shop to have a bung welded to your down pipe. I'm sure if you take your off downpipe and bring it in it will only cost $20 or so. Maybe there is a fellow dsm'er in your area that can weld it for you. You can put it in place of your rear 02, but that will send you an cel unless you have dsmlink.

To put it short, take it to an exhaust shop and get a bung welded into the downpipe but before the flex pipe. You will not be hooking it up to the ECU unless you are logging through the ECU. Otherwise you will just be monitering the gauge provided. You'll only need to tap into a power and ground.

In what case would I be logging through the ECU so I can decide if that is something that I would be doing in the future.

no, you didn't waste your money. Like everyone else has said, take it to a local exhaust shop and have them weld the bung on for you. Then just follow the directions on how to hook it up.

here this is the clamp the you just cut a hole in the exhaust and then u put a gasket around the exhaust then the clamp and then the sensor just threads into the clamp AEM No-Weld O2 Sensor Mount 3.25-3.5 inch exhaust

How hard is the downpipe going to be to get off if I don't have anything but jackstands? should i put liquid wrench or something on the bolts for a couple days ahead of time (heard this was good to get exhaust parts loose)

If you have a catless downpipe you can put the wideband sensor into the rear o2 area instead of using the rear o2 as that is only there to detect for a cat. Has no other functionality. Works like a champ especially if running dsmlink.

If I were you spray the liquid wrench spray on it. And also if you have a little torch I'd try that too.

if your on stock exhaust, it shouldnt be too difficult for you to put it in where your origional rear o2 sensor is, although without ecmlink you will throw a CEL. I see you are in PA, I sent you a pm check your inbox

Either way the wideband is awesome. If you cannot use it now you will eventually need one. It comes with a bung so you can have it installed at any exhaust shop for pretty cheap, but before doing that you should invest a little money to at least buy a downpipe. If your on a budget you can find stainless downpipes on ebay for $85 shipped to your door.

don't waist your money, something like that would work good for someone who is constantly moving their WB from car to car. then they could just get a clamp or something to cover over the hole it left... call around to a couple of exhaust shops they should be able to put your car on a lift and weld in the o2 bung with the exhaust installed in your car. shouldn't cost you more than $25 if it is to much more than that they are trying to rip you off. the guy i brought my Subaru to here in Vegas only charged me $20, and anything involving labor is expensive here. you could see what 1993eclipseGS can do for you.

Sometimes putting it in the rear 02 spot isn't as accurate bc it's so far back. Wideband's work best 18"-22"inches from the turbo
