After disconnecting everything that was connected to the turbo, and taking the turbo off the manifold so that I could easily take out the temporary bolt from the 02 housing, I put the new 02 sensor in the 02 housing as tight as it could go, just to find out the sensor is too long!

If the back end of the sensor was just an inch shorter I wouldn't be running into this problem, but sure enough...

The sensor want's to be right where the main water line from the water pump to thermostat housing is at.

I've tried getting the sensor behind the water line and then screw the sensor it, but it's not going to work.

the sensor wont thread correctly if the turbo is flush with the manifold, and the turbo won't go where it's supposed to if the 02 sensor is already as deep as it can go inside the 02 housing.

This is a Denso oxygen sensor, and I bought it because it was cheaper than OEM but I read nothing but good reviews on here and on other sites....But it doesn't make since why they made it so long, it sticks out like 3 freaking inches from the pipe :banghead:

When I bought a new o2 sensor for my '95, I had to buy one for a '96 because the chord part was too short. I don't remember if the sensor was different, but if you have a '95 with a later build date that could be the issue.

That's odd. Are you using any aftermarket o2 housing?

yeah it matches the aftermarket manifold i have to, i forget the brands, but everything else fits perfect, i just wish there was a way to shave off an inch or 2 off this sensor.

I'm going to try to see how easy it is to split open my old 02 sensors from my old stock exhaust and see if i can see anything inside

Here's one pic I took earlier today after I took it out of the car. I'll take a better pic tommorow with the manifold also.

Ahh. eBay o2 housing, no wonder why you've got fitment issues. You should bolt on the stock 2g o2 housing and never look back, you won't have sensor fitment issues.

:dsm:

stock one is too rusty, wheres the best place to buy a good aftermarket one?

Or another stock one, it would save you about $200. I have a few stock o2 sensor housings in my classifieds ad I currently have posted, if you want to go that route PM me.

If you want to go aftermarket then utilize our sites Marketplace to shop for parts, there are a few supporting vendors that make aftermarket o2 sensor housings.

I'll get you started. DSM o2 Sensor Housings

Not sure where you bought sensor but i work at autozone and had to go under eclipse gsx to get right sensor. If i looked up talon the pigtail was only 12 inches long but my connector was by thermostat. Using a denso here just fine seems to jump voltages alot faster than bosch.

I have an ebay o2, and have no fitment issues with the o2. I did however had to dent my water pipe a bit to get it to fit.

well I remember on the denso site it said it was the front 02 sensor for 95. eclipse / talon ALL turbo. whitch means fwd and or awd. I mean how would the 2g 02 housing be any different. for awd/ fwd? or the sensor? the downpipes are slightly different but only underneath the car and motor. on a side note, how can you just look at a manifold or 02 housing and tell it's from ebay? not saying mine isn't ofrom ebay because it is, but I'm wondering how you can tell?

yeah if there was a way to accurately dent my water pipe I could get what I have to work but I don't want to risk anything

Just take a hammer (with a rounded end) and dent a little at a time until it fits.
I'm not sure,, just worried about creating a water leak, not from the dent but incase the pipe comes a little out of the water pump

You should not have an issue. Many others, including myself have dented it on the car, with no ill effects. Just go slow, and take your time.

You can tell just by looking at it.

are the.ebay o2 housings prone to crack like the manifolds? I may have an eBay manifold too :(

My eBay o2 housing has been holding up for years, and the sensor fits just fine. Unless the design has changed, it looks like quality control went downhill.

Who cars about the o2 housing being rusty on the outside? It's covered by heat shields.

so the manifolds are very prone to cracking but not so much the 02 housing s? and what I was talking about was how rusty my o 2 housing is from my old exhaust, it's practically welded to the old downpipe

Is there a difference in the sensor lengths for the front and rear? Maybe they sent you the wrong one.....

Well I haven't compared them yet but they all look about the same length, so I'll check if both sides from my old exhaust match my denso.

But now that I'm back home I took 2 pics of my car, one showing where the sensor hits the water pipe so i cant get it where it needs to be, the other is just showing the manifold. will this manifold crack? how soon? it was bought from ebay but i thought it was a good company

It must be a mess up in autozones programming but, they are different sensors from talon to eclipse according to them. Like i said the pigtail was real short on the talons. When you go under eclipse it ask gst or gsx. Only difference is pigtail though not length of sensor.
