Deciding on Turbos..20g vs E316g

Just need to know what you guys think, I'm not gonna make 400hp so goals aren't important, but I'd like to stick with slower spool time to avoid spinning right away.

A) Slowboy's old 20g in a td05 housing. Internally gated, adjustable WGA. 8k miles. $550
or...
B) EvoIII for about 600 bucks (brand new)

Depends on if you know this 20g is well kept and really is low mile, if not I'd go with the brand new turbo (E16G). Almost as much air as a 20G anyway.

But based solely on wanting the slower spooling turbo, it'd be the 20G.

Ahh my fellow fwd friend. I know exactly what you are talking about. When I joined this site I almost chose 1wheel1st as my name due to the wheel spin. Not to worry, the evo3 16g is not going to spool any sooner than you stock. You can get one for around $550 shipped new. I don't like used turbos.

If you are that concerned about quick spool/wheel spin, get a good mbc. It will hold the gate closed until desired psi.

on ebay they sell a garret v ttrim that fits ur stock manifold and dp for around 675 with a 38 mm internal gate. and flows 48 lb/min which is more then a 20g

16g is such a small turbo for the price.

hell , if the 20g has no shaft play, It go with it, more power is always better, and its not like you got a rear end or a driveshaft to worry about breaking

for that price, i'd go with the 20g.

and for the eBay v-trim.. it's the to4b from bullseye.. or at least a knockoff

Thanks guys... I'm leaning more toward the 20g even though it it used. I hate to buy a used turbo but for a new one, we're looking at a grand, which is out of my price range. I've talked to the guy quite a few times and he seems cool enough and straight forward.

My only question... it was made for a 2g so it's got that 90 degree elbow, what do I do with it?

depends on your intercooler route.

if you want it to be teh way it came... cut if off

Well is he local? If outiside of your area, do you have his address and phone number, full first and last name?

Is this an online deal or what?

If he lives around your area and you get to inspect it first that is cool.

Online, I'd be skeptical of used turbo's, although I have bought and sold a few 14B's (they are only-150-250).
