Mine has so far at 23psi in the middle of each gear. I taper just a bit before each redline on purpose to help reduce shift knock.

Jrohner, I think it has a ton to do with knock as well. There is significantly more cylinder pressure when you knock at that sort of boost than we can make just by adding more pressure and ramping up timing. Let it knock and you will lose your headgasket in a hurry. Don't ever let it knock and it should be fairly safe.
 
i always tune for no knock. whats the best way to tune timing? im using dsmlink. like 1 degree per 1000rpm or what? i got afr in the bag.
 
On pump gas, tune timing according to knock. On E85, you can almost ignore the knock sensor as it's not useful for tuning since most any timing & AFR probably won't register knock. You need to just tune for actual acceleration (hp & torque). There's a good Excel spreadsheet on EvolutionM.net that you put in your logs time and rpm and it will give you a hp & torque graph. It's pretty good and accurate (as long as you feed it correct information and have a decent stretch of flat road). If you're tuning on a stock engine, you want to make sure you're on the conservative side on the tune.
 
cant get my e316g past 17-18psi with greddy profec b spec 2. =( please help me. i have no boost leaks all new couplers. wtf man. i just want to put it at 20-22psi for now.

Jrohner is right on for what I do. I start off with a factory tune. I set a target boost (if I can) and the tune for a target of 11:1 a/f ratio. For a 2g, I pull timing 1-2 degrees at the rpm point I start to see timing. I don't pull timing after that rpm point because sometimes knock at a lower rpm heats the CC up enough to cause the string of det to continue. Methodically I get all the way through the rev range in an attempt to keep the boost at my tarket and only pulling 3 degrees at the most. . . With a 1g, I'll pull up to 5 degrees before giving in and lowering my target boost.

You get more power with boost than timing with pumpgas. With e85, you get more power with more everything :)
