Does anyone make good rotors that won't kill the pocket? Parts store ones are the only ones I ever had, and they warp the first or second time you slow down from anything over 80. I torque my wheels, too, so it can't be blamed on that. The dual piston bigger rotor is what I'm looking for. I gotta get this car ready for winter which means I have to buy a press, get all 4 wheel bearings and seals, get the rear differential rebuilt, engine mounts, an actual exhaust, head machining, new gas tank, fuel lines (if I can find that long sections of stainless hard line) and rear brakes. For the rear brakes, only one pad seems to be wearing down and quickly. The pins seem to be the culprit and they barely slide even with a pry bar. How do I deal with this? They don't even sell remanufactured brackets anymore, and I doubt Mitsubishi carries them anymore. The calipers themselves are fine, I recently rebuilt the one. Snow tires will be the cheapest part.

I'm looking for normal smooth rotors, just better metallurgy than parts store cheapos. Looking for advice right now, not sales.

Clean up the pins, and the area in the caliper where the pins slide. Then, lube the crap out of both. If the caliper still doesn't slide smoothly, you'll need to replace either or both.

The Baer Decela rotors are a good budget performance rotor. I ran them for years before my Wilwood kit, and I never had them warp. A buddy of mine is still using my old Baers. They're drilled and slotted (which you may not want), but they're priced well and perform well too.

I'm looking for smooth rotors. I don't compete at all, nor do I plan on ever doing so, so I don't need to eat through pads.

x23234 maybe more LOL. Also if you really wanna be on a budget and not spend that much, get brembo replacement rotors and hawk pads. I have both and they've been great!!! If you wanna spend a lil more I agree 100% with what 99gst said.

Silicon carbide? Haha just kidding, I wish. I might spend a little more if I get another car and make this car not my daily.

The only smooth rotors that I'm aware of are the cheap parts store ones that don't last too long. Most decent rotors on the market are improved with slots, holes, etc... Even though you're not looking for a performance rotor, you are looking for a quality rotor that will last you a long time, and that very well may automatically narrow down your selection to only performance rotors. Maybe someone else knows of a quality smooth face rotor that I don't know about.

Also, those Baer Decelas don't wear a good pad down any quicker than a basic rotor. After years of use, my hawk pads had more than 75% pad life, and were in such good shape, I was able to sell them used.

I'll keep the Baer in mind, and the Hawks too. I've heard good things about Hawk on multiple platforms.

99gst racer, do you have any info about drilled rotors warping when at track days? Many drilled slotted rotors tend to warp due to the drilling i.e less actual rotor mass , but in the wet is a different story.

It's what I've heard from my supplier, trying to set the false from the true haha.

For good regular rotors get Wagner or Raybestos. They are both high quality metal and not to bad for the pocket book.

slots arent going to make you eat up pads.

you realize they are heavily radiused, either cast that way or cut with a ball mill.

regardless...any decent rotor will have slots, dimples, holes...or any combo of.

if you want a nice oem style pad that still performs really well i recomend Akebono. I get em through BAP. Good price, outstanding performance. Got some for the wifes lancer and it cured the endless brake nightmare ive been going through since i bought it.
