So my 96 Gst died on the way to work some weeks ago.
The timing belt wasn't moving while cranking the motor.
My car has been leaking about 1 quart a week for a few months now, thought it was cam or crank seals.
This is what I discovered today,
1) timing cover had no gasket on it.
2) oil caked inside bottom of timing cover.
3) Timing belt missing bout 15 teeth between the crank spocket and the oil sprocket.
4) oil filter housing/oil pan my be to blame, they are wet often.
So the missing gasket is bad, but would it allow oil filter housing leaks to flow up into the bottom of the timing cover with the crank pulley spinning like mad ? or for that matter the oil pan ?
Im at a loss now I was expecting to see a shity leaking crank seal.......
Still have to pull the timing set and then the head and have C&C check the head out for damage /sigh
Anyone had anything like this happen ?
Thanks for any input guys
