Data Logging on Android device

Hello,

I recently purchased a 94 Talon to fix up and use as a Sunday Driver. I haven't had a DSM in close to 15 years, so it's nice to be back in the saddle.

My question is in regard to data logging on an Android. I am contemplating either purchasing a new head unit based on Android, or building a Carputer. I would like to be able to view technical details on the car on my screen. I have searched far and wide and can't find the answer I'm looking for. Is it possible to connect to the brainbox via android, or is it only via Windows/Palm?

I would like to do the same. My son had a RaspberryPi unit that he was going to use and then never did so I don't know if that device might be the solution but it is worth looking into. MTC

You could get a windows based tablet and use ecmlink on it. essentially you'd have to make a "carputer", and all audio is going to be stereo output, or run through bt to a hidden sound processor or deck.

I know there's a few tablets that would be easy to mount and run that system through. youre better off getting a tablet mount and using it separate from the head unit IMHO.

ECMLink is quite pricey. Are there any other solutions out there that would work in my scenario?

I don't have one, at this time .... but there is an Android app Torque for OBDII, and also a MUT plugin for the pro version. You'll probably need an OBD1/2 adapter.

It is pricey but just think of all the time they had to dedicate to the project.

It's worth every penny.
