Danger in starting car without harmonic balancer for a couple of seconds

I had a metal tapping noise coming from timing belt area so I removed all the covers and belts and started the car for about 4 seconds without my fluid damper pulley. Any damage done to motor in those few seconds while I tried to pin point noise or I ok?

It turns out the noise was from the timing belt cover because I didn't hear it after I removed everything.

I can't imagine anything terrible would happen. You should be good.

As long as you had the center bolt in, and the timing belt did not slip you should be just fine.

Awesome guys. All timing belt components was on and secured.
Only removed the 4 bolts for crank pulley and timing belt cover!

Although I am pretty sure you did not do any damage and you are going to be OK., but why if you had any doubt , did you not ask before hand and saved yourself all the sweating and worries.

If more people did the asking before hand, I am sure they would save a lot of head aches and money

It is just like signing a contract and taking it to your attorney after the fact.

The knowledge in this forum is unprecedented, and should be used more by its members before they screw up, and ask for advise later.
