Thats a good T3 from what ive heard. A bi*** they mounted the wg flange like that. Looks like it would be jammed right in the radiator. How'd it work for ya, fitment wise?

Actually, obx is made in the US, and its tig welded. Its also got a 7cm flange, porting seemed pretty decent to me, it did improve spool like it said it would, it does hold the turbo like it said it would. Any other justifications to your $900+ purchase vs my $100 classified purchase?

And sure, I've got my ported 2g manifold as well if anything ever happens since this one is used... but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another brand new one, the obx I mean.

Also, just a quick question, have you actually had the obx unit in your hand? Or is this just a generalized opinion with no experience?

OBX is not made in the US. It is a US based company, but outsources it's manufacturing to other countries such as china.

Taken directly from their website: "STATE OF THE ART DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY OBX Organization, along with global partners and affiliates are capable of manufacturing products such as: Stainless steel rolling, stamping; aluminum die casting, extrusion, CNC, center machining, mould cutting forging; fiberglass moulds, plastic injections, JIG designs, 3D mandrel bending, and CAD/CAM designing." Global partners = CHINESE CHEAP LABOR.

Also, these chinese manifolds are not TIG welded. They are MIG welded and then gone over in pulse with a TIG, to give the appearance of being TIG welded. Check the inside of the weld and you'll notice it wasn't purged and you'll see the penetration from MIG.

I never tried to justify my purchase to anyone. I prefer to spend my money on quality parts. Please Google ebay cracked manifold and see how many results you find.... Google cracked JMF manifold and see how many you find. I understand the ratio is much higher of people purchasing chinese manifolds, but my money is on you finding a very small if absent percentage of people with quality manifolds failing.

I don't generalize. I've held OBX ram horn manifolds, CX racing tubular manifolds, SSAC manifolds, you name it. I'm not sure what you're getting at here, but if you held a quality manifold in one hand that's made from Schedule 10 elbows with billet flanges, vs an ebay, or OBX brand manifold made out of "SUS304", you'll be able to tell which manifold is superior.

I don't think there's anything left to debate on this one....

$300 and still includes the shittiest gaskets money can buy. I'll pass.

Got the manifold today. It is better than I thought. It is a true 7cm outlet. The outlet matches the OEM gasket perfect! Their supplied mesh gasket has about 1mm larger opening on all sides. The welds arent the best, but they are better than some cheaper manifolds out of China. Shipping was free and quick. They answered my emails quick. Fitment will be checked today but comparing to my DNP knock off it is very very close. The CXR manifold appears to sit the turbo 1/4" lower, which might keep the HX40 off the water pipe. Again fitment will be checked today.

I have a used DNP/ebay manifold that has 3 cracks at the collector for comparison. The CXR ports are larger and spaced even when compared to OEM manifold gasket. The runners are made of thicker metal and have larger inner and outer diameter. Flanges on CXR are thicker and flat. The CXR manifold is not good as the JMF. But $300 vs $818.....u decided. I would get the CXR over the FP cast anyday. The manifold was designed in US but built in China.

I have searched and searched and I have not seen a thread on any car forum where the 11 gauge manifold has cracked. I have seen a number of threads where the manifold fitment was off and flanges were warped. These were mainly on their top mount manifold versions where layout is not close to stock fitment.

Main thing this manifold or any tubular offers is volume. Larger volume decreases backpressure some and increases VE in the area hurt by exhaust gas reversion.

Looks alot like mine that has a flange warped so bad that tuning is nearly impossible. Exhaust gas going everywhere except to the turbo. Went with a FP. Never looked back. Hope yours is 1000% better.

Fitment tested. Fits like a glove! Manifold bolts on like stock. All nuts\bolts are easy to get to. Punishment racing recirculated O2 is millimeters close to alternator. Megan down pipe bolts up and I can use the stock down pipe bracket to hold the turbo and O2 in place. Helps keep weight off manifold. Manifold looks good as is, but I plan on sealing it with DEI header coat and wrapping in Titanium exhaust wrap with "Lava Rock Technology" . HX40 mounted with Bep 55 AR housing. Only a little clearancing was need on the water pipe. Clears front motor mount easy. Comp outlet lines up with VRSF intercooler. Going to use a modified stock oil drain.

Space....the final frontier....these are the voyages of.... Slim fan on driver side mounted inside stock shroud. I did have to cut some of the ribbing out of the fan because of the recirculated O2. I do have a thicker radiator.

That is an absolutely killer looking manifold! I'm interested to see how it performs and how it holds up! 11 gauge is very very thick compared to some of the China manifolds I've seen mentioned on the forums before. I'm subscribing, I hope it lasts forever - .

Any updates TalonSpeed ? Did you put a straight edge on the flanges ?

I put a straight edge on the flanges and they were straight. I dont have any exhaust leaks. Head gasket didnt seal (MLS) so I am going back in to replace with a composite.

Update, manifold is still holding up. I thought the head gasket was bad but it held tonight under 40psi. Driver side radiator fan melted and wire shorted together. Ignition transistor also took a dump causing down time. I have two stepped and antilag the turbo some and the manifold is holding up fine.

I do have a leak in between the bullseye housing the punishment racing O2.[DOUBLEPOST=1416712334][/DOUBLEPOST]FYI you must run a thin slim fan, not a medium one like I had inside the stock shroud.

Fan that melted was a medium slim fan in stock shroud. It melted because of heat from the turbo. Engine was running lean with real high EGTs. Driver side fan doesn't turn on unless the AC is on so sitting still it melted. Now I have turbo blanket and wrapped the O2 housing and wired both fan to come on at the same time. No more melted fans and much cooler engine temps.

Manifold was taken off to fix broken bolt in Bep housing. Manifold was fine. flanges still flat, no leaks, no cracks.

header manifolds cause to much heat under the hood and cause many problems . . having a large vent like the evo hood would help a lot. i think the fp manifold is plenty big to make power and if you want to go to t3 you can always put an adapter to make it work .

$300?! $200 buys you a brand new Evo 3 cast manifold and $100 more gets you one hell of a port/polish job on it at a machine shop. Even less if you get one used. I think tubular manifolds are mainly a "bling" thing, like for show cars or something.

the topic really isnt old considering the op is the one that decided it was time for an update which is what people like to see on here not a person that used it for 500 miles and then try and review it he used it abused it and now is gonna tell you how it is doing sounds very good to me

to everyone about the fp manifold damn chill out i know its a good part but try new things tubulars are great so are stock 2g manis people have made plenty of power on them for years and years no sense in saying you could have done this and that now he bought it and used it and liked it im sure he is more than happy with his purchase i know i would be 300$ and its still going strong i wouldnt mind that

Tubular exhaust manifolds usually have larger ports, larger tubes, and can be equal length.......This leads to better flow and also provides more volume between the engine head and turbo.......creating more horse power in the top end range usually between 5-10%
