I got it cut and shaped to what I thought was good, but it's blocking the top of the fmic which I would assume to be ok until I noticed everysome seems to have cut the whole thing and left a little up top, do you think this will be alright like this?

A lot of guys run it the way you have it. I am taking a little more off of mine personally, just for weight reduction. But your set up should be fine.
