Nice. That is definately a nice template you made. Good job. :thumb: I must say that, that looks like a manifold cover only. I see where the flange exit sits, but you would also need to make an extension for the turbo shield to attach.

You should try making that and see how it turns out. Or draw out what your attachment shieldwould look like. I am concerned with the turbine housing area on mine, I don't know if I want to revise it yet. I'll have to keep you guys updated...

No, you misunderstood, I said I would use my design for the manifold, but buy a commercially available shield for the turbine housing...

You may need to modify it to fit the shield for your manifold..

I'll cross that bridge when I come to it, but I don't think the two shields will cause any fitment issues.

Well guys I can honestly say I successfully made a new turbo heat shield.

But this time, I made it to acomedate everyone. Due to the previous shield I made, many members (BigRand this one is for you!) made it clear they had no welders available to replicate what I made.

So, this is a completely WELD FREE custom turbo heat shield. It's actually pretty nice looking, effective, and all you need is a simple torch, some braze bar (like $1 a stick), some metal snippers, and a little elbow grease.

I pretty much made a cardboard cutout model then traced my template onto the sheet metal and went from there. I cannot find my digital right now but I will try to post pics up ASAP.

I still haven't mounted this yet. I know where the mounting points are, but I need some L brackets to create the proper placement.

That Heat shield looks pretty nice! I just cut down my stock Heat shield and bolted it back on haha it doesn't look as nice as yours but its serves its purpose. I almost wish I would have cut a little less off and bent it up over the Compressor Housing.
Our stock Heat shield is double layered 14 gauge aluminum, so it may have more effect on suppressing heat. Galvanized steel doesn't Dissapate heat as quicky as alluminum.

Also to help out with your paint problem try using some DEI Reflect-A-Cool
Reflect-A-Cool™is a sheet of reflective material with an adhesive back which offers outstanding protection against extreme heat ...stick a sheet of that on the underside of your hood and you will be all set!
