So running 19's makes me ricer? I guess painting my wiper arms to match the color of the car makes me super ricer then LOL

the 19's i could maybe deal with, the wiper arms does kinda get me though, but as i said to the op, if he thinks it looks good, its his car, and he's the one who has to deal with people hating on it.

i try not to make fun of people to much for doing what they think is cool to there own cars, but in my own mind 90% of that stuff would never touch my car because i think it is "ricerish". but thats just my personal opinion.

in the end, different strokes for different folks, can still get to london in a rowboat, etc etc. :thumb:

i nightshaded my n/t's tail lights. some would call that ricer right there, i personally just like how they look better.

Thoes are 19's damm they don't look that large...You should post some more pics in your gallery..Please..

In the world of auto-paint bright colors should never be simply given to ricers.

This is like the snowboard vs. ski battle. It began in the late 80's early 90's. Skiers we're in crazy colors and designs while snowboarders wore bland colors. Bring it forward to the 00's and Skiers have taken on the bland colors while riders are wearing the crazy colors ( and you have freestyle skiers in on the fad too) The debate on what is 'the skier or rider style' rages on.

Colors from factories are generally not exciting at this point in life. Like I said take it from 67-71 Mopar (the breeders of our import muscle mutts) made the most vibrant colors with great names. The power of these cars also helped in what I'm about to point out. However, the success and eternal fame these cars currently hold is a direct relation to bold colors and powerful engines.

Agree to disagree. DSM's generally are bland colors white, black, red, gray.... Standard palates aside from that really cool blue on talons....

The world is like a crayon box why do you have to stick to these colors? Why can't you show your personality like Jaxness and use pink, or the OP using lime green.

It's like food if everyone eats hot dogs and only hot dogs, then a guy sits down and he's eating sushi it's going to cause some issues.

If your personality says lime green then so be it.

If it screams black on black then so be it.

It's your car.

Aside from that the photo you posted of the screen where an air bag should be is a custom fiberglass lay, painted and clear coated.

I have a miata too, if I ever get to finishing the body work and getting it painted the goal was to completely lay the dash with fiberglass get it nice and smooth and paint the entire car inside/out a nice black. So it would be an exact match inside/out triple black, black wheels, black calipers, black tails, black markers, there is also a horrible looking body line stretching the perimeter of the car which I am shaving along with the antenna.

"Rice" is whatever someone else wouldn't do to their own car.

Its YOUR car, go for it. Dont let anyone tell you what you like is dumb.

+1million.....
I've painted trims in my previous cars and even in my current spyder. With my 98 s10 blazer I used red to blue chameleon paint on the gauge trim and door accents and it turned out great. Just realize that its your car and if you ask questions here that have to do with anything other than performance when it comes to your car 95% of the people will start trash talking. If you want lime green in your car and its what makes you happy man go for it:thumb:

Hello guys, talking about Painting the interior of the 2g, i sprayed most of my trim pieces and the bottom of rear seats flat black, and all these things i have painted have so far come out like rought to the touch, with 2-3 coats each to get everything cover, do you guys think with some coats of Clear Coats it would come out smooth like original to the touch?.. I was hoping for this to be the case, which is why im asking to make sure before i keep painting the rest of the interior..
also i can't find clear coat for fabric & vinyl, can i use regular clear coat for like bumper? or plastic? for the fabric and vinyl pieces?

please any information would help.Thank You

RICE = Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements

Painting your interior does nothing for your performance, same with calipers, same with body kits, same with tinting out your taillights.

Sorry, but some people here are still living in 2001.

You want to do this stuff to your car, fine. But, when you are at car shows and meets and I have to look at your car, you damn well better expect me to tell you about your rice. That whole stupid fad passed years ago, sorry some of you weren't old enough to enjoy it, but the car scene as a majority now appreciates clean, under the radar looking cars that make surprising power. All the rice fanatics like to tell you that if you don't like it leave, then fine, follow your own advice, all these cosmetic changes are not cool to the majority of people, so leave that group of people instead of trying to impress yourself on us.

For the most part I agree with you, because most of the cars at meets/shows are rice. Especially honduhs and integruhs

But painting something black cannot be considered rice. Black doesn't scream look at me. Its the perfect color. You can paint anything black and it just blends in.

No one here is immune from doing something cosmetic...but at a point you transcend from making the car look nice and clean, to being a ricer, and sorry but lime green fits that bill...could you be any more of a Paul Walker wannabe with any other color?

As for the roughness on the trim pieces sand them in between coats. It will smooth it out for you. Just don't go crazy with a coarse grit.

This fit the bill?

In defense of the pic you posted....It is a laser and the color lasers can be based on science fiction are only limited to neon green, bright red, electric blue, or MAYBE lightning yellow...so I mean lets be fair..

i dont care what anyone says customizing my car is not ricey its my personal touch and it will look good when its done. there will be pictures up of it when its done and even if u still say its ricer deep down inside youre really gonna be thinking you love it

All is good but the, "your really going to be loving it part"

This site is pretty well known for being anti cosmetic work.

Unless it's cleaning or murdering....

People on other dsm sites are more friendly to cosmetic stuff.

This site is like a team of executioners to those who do appearance mods. So you chose to post this in a good place for getting your skin thickened. haha

Do what you like, it's your car and none of us drive it.

Just do GREAT work, because I hate when people destroy interior pieces by painting them half ass. Take your time, use the correct tools preps and paints....

It's really no stupider than guys who put Gigantic turbos on slow ass cars IMHO. It's kind of whatever. Do what you want. It may look good, it may not, but if you like like it that's what matters.

That is an excellent point.

Or the monstrous fmic with 3 inch piping to the t-25......

I get the idea buy once. However the mod list should be better than stock+monster fmic.

OR

stock+monster turbo and mbc.

I see lots of kids diving into these huge turbos with 600awhp pipe dreams and no cash to support them...

There is tons of fun to be had with a 14b or a 16g with cash to spare for other supporting mods.

I guess it isn't 'cool' to have a 14b though....

Look at this ricer jerk....Painting his interior to match his car...

Yeah.. that shit is pretty ####ing horrible looking.

And you need to wet sand between each coat. 320 or higher grit. And lots of water!!! I usually run a water hose medium pressure over the surface unless its small, you can use a spray bottle.

I find it ironic anyone thinks lime green is "ricer"
It is in fact Original Sub-Lime Mopar
However I agree it goes on the outside with a black interior and very sparingly trim accented inside.

Yeah I mean you want to talk about performance/Rice bla bla bla, I mean come one. Those guys are just as bad as anyone else. They are just given a free pass by all the dummies because there buying performance parts but nope...:nono: not me, I see you.. I see what your doing. Giant turbos with a shitty mod list of low quaility parts that don't even work together on a slow ass car is worse to me than someone painting there interior.

Funny thing is some people put more time and effort in painting cars, interiors, e.c.t and spend more money on it then the cheap stupid ass idiots who frequent this site on a regular basis who buy the cheapest crappiest parts they can find cause they obviously have no pride in the car there modding, and then have the audacity to look down on other members and call themselves real DSMers

no one said customizing is ricey. we said bodykits, stomach churning bright colored interiors, fart cans, and big wings are.

unfortunately that sounds like the direction your headed. more power to you if you manage to make it look decent, but painted anything in the interior to me is just plain stupid. and a bodykit IMO is a waste of money.

don't get so uptight about what everyone else thinks about your car. if you think its cool and your happy with it, then go for it. :thumb: we are simply saying that you will need a thick skin if you do, because alot of people will make fun of it.

i've seen it said a million times, opinions are like a**holes. everybody has one. and on the internet its easier to put out there then ever.

it isnt the color itself that is in question, its the use of it.
