I'm going to be running coolant directly to my head this year so instead of just welding some AN fittings on I decieded to make something that can not only be switched to a different head but also if the AN fitting is damaged that too can be switched out :)

This is the timing belt side fitting and is a tolorance pressed in fitting

This fitting replaces the stock thermosat housing

Should have the fitting machined for the trans side of the block done this week. :hellyeah:

Whats the advantage of doing this over the normal setup like mitsubishi designed it for? I cant seem to figure out anything.

Oh i see now and thanks for the link! Im assuming this is for racing then? Looks good, so let me guess if this is how it works. The block of plate goes where the water pump is and the AN fitting is to go to the electric waterpump and then to the rad then this AN fitting on the head is to go from the waterpipe behind the manifold then goes around again? Or am i not getting this right!

Customarily, but I doubt there's any negatives to running an electric pump on the street. You're correct. It's pointless for the street. This is for racing, where to squeeze out every little bit of power, you don't run an alternator or anything on belts. Just a battery and some electric pumps.

Ok cool yeah i want to build a race car so i want to understand all this before i plan on anything! Sounds interesting and would like to know more but i will do a little google search for that though,

Nice piece, but the thread sparked my curiosity to ask what people are running in place of the water pump to keep a pulley where it once was for either the alt or the power steering. I'd love to see pics of the solution as well if anyone has any..Ijust can't picture what guys would be running in that location when using an electric pump

Me to glenn! LOL I'm relocating my alt. to were the AC was and noticed that if you want to run it that way you have to run two belts if you already deleted the P/S. The timing tab presents problems. I've been thinking of a serpintine belt system with just an idle pulley were the P/S used to be and a tensioner. I do like his setup and thinking of a remote thermo housing but thats making it way to complicated.

I've never seen an electric water pump'd DSM car that retained power steering. They always ditch it. And then just drive the alternator off the crank with a shorter belt.

aha, and i have now seen the light. For some reason i couldn't errase the WP pulley frm the equation of needed parts to run the alternator LOL

thanks!
