i dont get it.... friday night my car was running great!! i installed my AFPR and I turned it up to 43 psi, got a good pull with 12 counts and left my settings from -7--12... then sat night i was at the track and i fouled #2 plug so no more runs for me...

so this morning I got a new set of plugs BPR6ES's gapped them at .28 nd the car is running great except i can smell the fuel and i have 6 counts of knock... wtf? i wanted to grab a set of BPR7ES's but noone in town had them in stock, besides this would have made things worse since Im still on 93 octane...

correct me if I'm wrong but I think Im running my fuel pressure too high?

thanks in advance... btw my car is pretty much stock with a Walbrough 255,aeromotive afpr, and safc II at 16 PSI... im pulling 18 degrees with 12 counts and 24 degrees with 6 counts... it feels stronger and more responsive with the newer plugs but it shouldnt create that much difference in my A/F settings since the plugs even though they were fouled had less than 2000 miles on them should it?

Were you running 6's or 7's the first time?

Stock FP for us is supposed to be 38psi I believe. I however got better results running 43 base FP. I also run the exact same AFPR and pump and my settings on AFC are about the same as yours BTW. weeiiiiird ;)

yeah i was running 38 PSI, but it was doing some mad lean popping in between 5-7k in third gear so i let off... i then adjusted it up to 43 psi and i almost lost it in first it had so much more low end so i kept it there only to foul a set of plugs...

i dunno, it runs great now, although i dont like wasting gas... i want it to burn... i'll see how well the 450's and the stock sidemount handle a small 16G and ill tune it then... i was just wondering if it was a AFPR tuning issue, or maybe the sign of a timing belt change....

Are you sure it was a lean pop that was occuring beforehand? ie. do you have a way to check the A/F ratio?

I'd also make sure that you don't have ANY boost leaks, period. I don't really see a 5 PSI increase in fuel pressure adding THAT much fuel... on my talon, changing the pressure 8 PSI changed the A/F roughly 0.4 points on the A/F side... YMMV

A word of advice on a 16G and the stock side mount.... I woudn't do it... you 'might' get one good pull out of it before it heatsoaks, then you lose the 'fun factor' of driving the car. :D Unless you run c-16 in your car like some people :sneaky:

thanks rich... its actually a small 16g so it shouldnt be too bad... mine surprisingly doesnt heat soak as bad as i thought it did.... i get about three good pulls with my tune before it starts knocking and pulls back about 5-8 degrees
