So I've been reading every single thread i can find in multiple forums and I've tried a lot of stuff to get my cruise control to work. My cruise control on the dash says it turns on and the cruise light on the gauge cluster turns on when set but the speed doesn't actually set. So i went through all the trouble shooting ie; clutch and brake pedal switches, vacuum leaks, no blown fuses etc. I am not sure how to test the pump for the cruise control as i cant set it without going 25+ mph so i figured id do everything else and if it didn't work id just replace the pump motor. I pulled one of the vacuum lines attached to the diaphragm and physically sucked on it to make sure the diaphragm didn't have a leak (thanks to a thread i read) and it appeared to function properly and i put my thumb over the hose and it stayed deflated. as I'm thinking I'm going to just have to buy a new pump I'm putting it back together and go to physically move the throttle cable attached to the diaphragm it doesn't move, like at all. So i check the box mounted to the firewall and that moves nice and free so i removed the cable and it is not moving so i think i found my problem.
The backstory was mostly to let people know what i tried and for people with a similar problem let them know what i THINK the problem is.
So i need to replace the throttle cable that attaches the Diaphragm of the cruise control to the box mounted to the firewall. I called Oreilley's, Autozone and Napa and not only do none of them have it locally, they don't seem to have it Anywhere. Does anyone know where to replace this cable? From another vehicle type or a way to make it work? I am in Alaska and we don't have A LOT of junk yards and there is VERY LITTLE dsm stuff in them.
