Can someone with a set confirm that they looked like this(pin positions vs lobes and holes in the cams)????

ATTENTION !!!!!!

This is extremely important to anyone thinking about purchasing a set of crower cams that are new and have not yet been used from either a dealer or direct from Crower. I bought a head off a guy with a set of crower stage 2 3/4 race cams they seemed to be wrong bought another set DIRECTLY FROM CROWER still wrong well I call them up and have them check others in their inventory. Guess what ...EVERY CAM AT CROWER FOR A 420A ECLIPSE IS A NEON CAM!!!!!!!! Someone ####ed up an entire batch maybe more of crower cams that were suposed to come off the machine and be marked and setup for neon for a eclipse. The key indicators are the dowel pin location. You can see where the dowel pin was suposed to be and where it actually is and two the lobes are way off even with the dowel pins in the right location. This is a very serious thing and I didn't want anyone else to get beat as I don't think they have any cores right now at this time. It took me calling and letting them know to even recognize it. The guy is cool but he just started 3 months ago and didn't know how bad it was. I bought my fist set off a guy about 5 months plus ago to give you an idea of how long this goes back. SO before you buy any crower cams from ANYONE ask them to check for these three things to make sure their for a eclipse


1. With the dowel pins on the intake cam at 6 o clock and the exhaust cam dowel pin at 12 o clock there should be wholes right behind the first set of lobes.

2. With the dowel pins at the pre-stated locations the first set of lobes closest to the cam gear end of the cam( the end with the dowel pins) should be facing away from each other(left and right)

3. The exhaust cam which should have the dowel pin at 12 o clock with the whole straight up as said should be the cam with threaded part on the opposite end for the cam angle sensor.

I know to some this sounds trivial but you will be suprised how easy it is to not catch it at first. Just a heads up tyo everyone.

that it very interesting, i have stage 3 crowers and i didnt pay attention, but i do know that the engine runs like a f-in top, very deep lobing action. so maybe i got lucky, so im gonna kinda stay on that track...... for now.

Yeah you should be cool then trust if it you had neon cams the car would backfire like a mother and pop and wouldn't start.

Yeah you especially know what I been going through but it should be cool they said they were gonna have to just make me a set on Monday of whatever I want. I was looking at something the neon cams at every stage are more aggressive than the eclipse cams even though it's the same motor tech You know why that is bullet? I was thinking about getting them to make me eclipse 420a cams with neon full race specs.

Edit: By the way I got approved for a crb1000rr so I abandoned the turbo build and just sticking with the original nitrous build setup. I know I'm worse than john kerry with the waffling .

Flip Flop to the extreme, but I can't even hate. I'm taking my time on figuring out what I want to do next, but I've gotta gotta get my eclipse running again first, because its been sitting for a couple of months.

So I take it your looking to do a high comp. motor, and I'm assuming crower is building you a speced cam for nitrous?

I already have 10:5:1 I think that's fine for a nitrous build and yes I'm debating now on what specs to make the cams cause they said they would make anything I want. To be honest though I don't see the need with spray to get too crazy on the other stuff. Like bullet makes 203whp. If I make 170 or even 160whp with a 150 shot that's like having a 300who all motor setup which will make for a low 12 sec car with how gutted my car is with slicks and suspension which should be plenty fast for a dd street car. One thing I noticed is that the neon cams have a slightly more aggressive spec than ours in the same style threw crower. So as funny as ironic and funny as this sounds I might have them make me neon spec stage 3 full race cams . If I lose a race with that I just go get the bike .

I have crower stage 2s and I didn't even think i would need to check them. Coming from a company like crower I would expect them to know what they are doing. This gives me a better reason to look around for bigger cams....these stage 2s just aren't cutting it anymore.


On a side note...you guys have any complaints using crower stage 3s with a turbo?

Idk who changed the thread title but anyway...I had to settle for the 3/4 race because they didn't have any stage 3's and didn't know when they would be able to make another set. I even talked to dave crower himself to try and solve the problem. I don't want anyone to think that crower is a bad company or these cams or bad I just didn't want anyone to order a set until they had a chance to fix the problem and get some more correct cams made. To be honest if these stage 2's don't cut it I might upgrade to full race's later on and sell these but I'm just spraying not boosting anymore so the need for a crazy cam isn't needed. Trust me 99% of the people who already have aftermarket cams it's the rest of the setup that isn't flowing enough not the cams choking the system.

Yeah...thats a good point. I got my 420a to push out 366whp and 322tq. @ 23psi on 93 pump. That is with a ported 55mm TB and a ExtrudeHone level II ported stock intake manifold. I have been trying to focus on getting/making a bigger intake manifold with a bigger TB, and just thought i'd get the bigger cams while i am at it. Unfortunately, for my wallet, I am a balls-to-the-wall type of person when it comes to the eclipse.

Yeah I have a q45 tb a slightly ported and machined obx manifold stage 2 crower cams and a ported and polished head so From beginning to end my intake setup is setup to flow(yes I know the obx isn't the best but it's been proven to be better than stock when changes are made) I know I will wish I had stage 3's but from my readings you don't want a high lift cam with nitrous because you blow some of the nitrous out the exhaust and shoot fire and backfire a little.

I asked wrongly, but yes im asking for fuel pressure cause i mounted an external adjustable fuel regulator
