today is a sad day for me, just finished taking d oil pan off and found out that i have crankwalk. she has been real good 2 me but now she is down. have 2 do something 2 get here back up and running. what would be the best way 2 get here going again.

At this point I would recommend just leaving her down for the winter and rebuilding the engine. Install all new gaskets, all new timing, all new internals, new HG and valve train ,BSE, and probably clutch (depending on milage). Make her like new again so you wont have to worry about anything else going wrong with your engine for a long time to come.

Will you could by another engine and don't know the extent of it's usage. Or you could spend time and rebuild it and gain knowledge from it. The saying goes and still stands... Do it right or do it twice.
A tuner on here once said.... PIECE OF MIND is PRICELESS. You don't have to worry about what's gonna give because you've done it yourself and know it structual integrity.

I've done alot of research on this subject because i had the same thing happen to me.
If it didn't trash your block you still have some options.
You could block off the oil squirters and go with forged pistons to take the heat.
There is a thrust bearing mod where you file a little bit of the bearing edge so you make an oil channel directly to the thrust bearing.
I thought about drilling a tiny hole to the oil galley from the thrust bearing to ensure oil flow directly to the thrust bearing but a bse would be required for enough oil pressure. (has anyone done this?)
Eliminate the neutral safety switch so you can start the engine without the clutch putting pressure on the thrust bearing.
There is also a machining process to go with the two piece thrust bearing that is a newer design to help eliminate this problem.
Then the 6 bolt option which is what I went with.
Sorry for your luck I went thru the same issue pm for moral support or some links to some info.

i tell u disableing that clutch switch makes me feel more confident in not getting cw,now im not saying i wont get it,i had it tested about a year ago and from the dial indicator it was in spec i believe from alldata or somedata as some call it the in spec is .009"-.021" if im not mistaken so i found that clutch switch and disabled it in a heartbeat man did that make my day doing that

it really didnt cause any damge i caught it just end time so im guessing i was just begining wiggle its self around

Get a new crank, upgraded bearings, do all the other maintenance and let 'er rip!! No reason for all new internals if you are keeping it below 400hp. It is easily fixable and a good time to replace all the timing parts/water pump so you are good for thousands of miles!!

replacing just the crank sounds good and swaping 2 a 6 bolt also sounds good. but i really dont plan on getting a hp crazy with it. I mean i have all these mods and upgrades on it, I mainly use it as my DD so i just wonder what would be my best decision. I dont mind workn on my car at all thats my favorite part, gets me away from the wife n drink while i work. and new tools

A 6 bolt would be alot of work, between fab and tuning and rewiring, you would have just as much time and way more money into it as compared to just rebuilding. Just rebuild your engine.

You shouldnt have to worry about it since you have the revised thrust bearing.

find a running 7bolt on craigslist and drop it in.

take the cw'd 7bolt you have and rebuild it slowly over time, so to be ready when that swapped 7bolt walks (if it ever does).

This is what I'm considering doing, but I am not worried aobut my rebuilt 7 bolt walking. I'm thinking about mating a shep built tranny to it too so when I get serious about making big power, I can have the old 7 bolt out and the new one installed in a weekends time.

But seriously, dont worry so much about crankwalk, I know its hard not to when it just happened to you, but you wont have to worry about it for a LONG time after you rebuild. (unless of course its done wrong.)

7 bolt it is then, i know this junk yard in tx that has lots of 7 bolt engines and 6 bolt engines so i guess im gonna plan a visit so i can have my back up engine. like I said before im not really trying 2 make lots of power with it so i think i would be fine, plus working on the car gets me away from my wifey.

i just discovered the same prob on mine while finishing up a auto fwd to a man awd conversion. you could also swap to a 2.4l short block. or toss in a 2.4l crank and diff pistons and do a stroker. i chose to go the 2.4l long block with a 1g head. its goin in a 95.
