I have to take off the lower case and replace the case gasket and oil pump gasket, but I cant seem to find the special tool anywhere. I know that Mistubishi makes a special tool (part # MD990767), but it it special order just for the shop, its not for sale.

I tried looking on Jegs or JC Whitney for some sort of crank gear tool, i even called every dealer and auto parts stores in my area, and I cant find anything.

I really need some help with this, as I need to get my car back up and running.

your replacing the front cover (the one with the oilpump gears in it) and your trying to remove the crank pulley?

if its this your trying to take out, it should just slide out once you remove the bolt holding it.

If not, are u trying to remove the funky bolt on the oilpump gear bolt cover...does it make sense its the one that looks like a star...

BTW..are u having fun?

dejon tool sells one for liek 25 bucks.

You shouldn't need any special tools for any of that. I replaced my front cover & seal with regular wrenches & ratchets.

well, if the motor is still in the car, then just put it in gear and hold the brakes. u can get to if rom the little hole in the drivers side wheel well. i suggested the tool because i was under the impression the motor was out of the car.

The motor is still in the car.

I made my own tool similar to Dejons one, but it still need some modifying.

Its not the pully, its the gear.

When you did that, was the engine out? Did you have to remove the BS's or teh oil pan?
