crank seal not seated right

I noticed today after re installing everything that the front case crank seal has a small lip that didn't seat right against the crank. I am wondering if there is a way to fix this other than tearing everything off and having to order all new gaskets ect all over again.

How did you install the seal? Is it in all the way or how the original was?

it was, and I oiled it. It must have got caught somehow when sliding it over the crank shaft. is there a way I can wedge it back in carefully so I dont have to tear everything apart again?

You can try that but the spring can pop off the backside when they get twisted like that.

Ya might be easier to pull that seal and pop a new one in! You don't have to pull anything off to swap the seal

Grab your feeler gauge set, use like the .005 blade and push the inner lip into place.

It is a double lip seal, just like the rear main. It just happens from time to time.

I completely forgot that that the end you push in to. might be a pita to remove with the crank in the way. I was thinking you have to take it out from the other side. Ill try it with a feeler gauge first if that doesnt do the trick ill try and get it out.
