As the title suggests, I have a small 16G on my 1gb but here's the bad part. The exhaust housing has a crack that goes from the turbo-gasket to the part where the housing is fused together...The picture will help you decide.

Does anyone know how to fix it?
I've heard about JB weld and magnafluxing and etc. but does any of that work??
Any suggestions apart from getting a housing or if I do get a housing aren't small 16G exhaust housings hard to come across???

Please!!! Help me out guys..

SHip it to me and I'll weld it up for you. don't even try using any epoxy or JB weld types of compounds.

YOu're close enough it should only be a day or so in each direction, or hell if you're going to be in or around omaha, just bring it by my house or shop and i'll fix you right up.

The old answer to all of our ?s JB Weld. DO NOT USE JB WELD ON YOUR TURBO!!!On one of my old 14Bs I cracked the exhaust housing from too much boost. Yes I did try to JB Weld it. I went for a drive maybe 5 miles and turned around. Got home opened my hood, looked at the part I repaired. And what do I see..The Jb weld turned into powder. To answer your next question, no you cannot snort powdered JB Weld. So in conclusion. JB Weld will not work to repair a turbo. As to why: The exhaust on a turbo gets way hotter than 600 degrees, try more closer to 900 or 1000 degrees. Instantly turning the epoxy to dust.

Yeah I was down there like 2 weeks back!!! cant come in the coming weeks cause class starts on monday!!!! ARRRRGH! dang it..Bu hey, my friend works in a machine shop, and he told me the guy who does the welding is a good friend..my friend couldn't think of a "remedy" off the top of his head. I'm broke so thats why I'm trying the free stuff....

Have the welder bring it up to 500 degrees in an oven, then just use Nickel rod and weld up , you can do about an inch at a time before you must re-heat teh part so it's evenly hot then you can start welding again.

If you've got the time or don't find anyone to repair it just PM me and i'll give you an address to ship it to, i'llhave it fixed that day and ship it back out the next if need be.
