I was in my car with the brake on i thought looking down and slowly rolled forward off of the blacktop lip and the front wheels were off and hung up. The car is lowered.

I backed out and looked and what do you know tranny fluid everywhere!!!!

I jacked it up in the dark but with the dirt and tranny fluid and lack of light I couldn't find the crack.

Please someone give me advice on what to do and the costs of repairs and what i'm going to need to replace!! It blows when shit breaks.

I had a crack in my trans from a piece of a gear coming out of it. If it is just a small split a shop should be able to weld it up but you will have to remove the transmission. To avoid damage I would pay some one to remove the internals and reassemble them properly replacing all the parts that shouldn't be used again.

If you pull it yourself and can find a local shop I would say you should get out of it for only an arm instead of an arm and a leg. That is if the crack can be welded.

As a guide for the high end of what it costs I spent around $2000 but I got a full TRE rebuild with some sweet options.

What is your estimated cost of that work?

How hard is it really to take the tranny out?

Taking the tranny out is a good amount of work but it isn't technically hard. Rent a tranny jack to make your like easier and have a friend or two over. Follow the steps on VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions for a clutch change.

I have no idea what it costs to do a minimal rebuild but I would guess maybe in the $500 range. Could be less, I've never priced it though.

Hey man that eclipse looks real low on your avatar but looks tight. I pulled my tranny for the first time by myself a week ago and its not the worst thing in the world. Takes a lot of time, a cherry picker and some cursing though.

The axels were the worst part but if you can grab the brake disk and pry they come out not too bad.

Thanks for Favre by the wayROFL
