Cracked o2 housing okay?

a dsmer on this board who rebuilds turbos sold me a small 16g right before it was sent out i was sent this message.

"
Turbo looks great- the turbine housing has one crack around the wastegate hole but it's literally in the best shape of any housing I have. The crack is from rapid heating and cooling and will generally close once the housing is up to operating temp. The cracks are completely normal- I don't have a single housing here without a crack. They don't pose a threat to performance as long as they do not go completely through the housing."

is this true?

there are housing without cracks not to say it want run like this but it sounds like its probably just an old housing.

Should be fine as long as its not a HUGE gaping crack that will allow a ton of gasses to go where you dont want.

is he correct in saying they will weld up when it gets up to running temp.

Thats normal on cast iron 6cm & 7cm housings, if you want a crack free housing, pick up a evo 3 hotside

It wont weld up but the casting will expand as it gets hot and most likely close it up.
