Cracked Block. What Do I Do Now?

I may or may not have a crack in the block. there is a picture here. My question is is it worth it to get the block hottanked and magnafluxed when i'm pretty sure that is a crack (i've had a couple people look at it, some say it could be a casting flaw, some say crack...but an odd place to crack) or should i go and get myself a new block?

Here in PA I can pick up a block for under 100 bucks if I shop around so for me no it wouldn’t be worth it. Where you are I have no idea what would be cost effective. That looks cracked enough to me that I would want to scrap it.

that was my thinking. I live on Vancouver island in BC and there is only 1 block on the whole island, and its a complete shortblock that could be all used up and they want 500 bucks for it. I really just need the block and then i am going to do a rebuild. I have a lead in Vancouver but i can't get a hold of anybody, to find out if they have a block. I've also been searching the classifieds, but i think shipping wouldn't make it worth it. has anybody ever had a block shipped to them and how much was it?

I shipped a block from Lancaster to Clovis NM which is pretty damn far and it was like 60 bucks. I also had a block shipped from Magnus and it wasn too bad.

thats not terrible...i was thinking it would be well over $100USD. I'm waiting on a couple of emails from the classifieds. Is there any vendors that sell just blocks (not shortblocks)

Yes they do but not cheap.

the 500 dollar shortblock was in a front end accident and the cast front motor mount was ripped right off. Theres not much i can do about that one, can I? Problem is in Canada, we didn't have Mitsubishi, only Eagle, and Plymouth and they're not exactly common.

I'd look at picking up a new block. You may be able to find a bare 6 bolt block easily. Its the 6 bolt GOOD cranks that are getting hard and $$$ to find.

Crank shouldn't be a problem. My crank should be fine, i'll have it checked when i pull the rest of the bottom end apart.
