ported head, now what gasket do I use?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. The ports for the exhaust seem to fit a gasket I have perfectly however the intake ports are too big for a 2g gasket and too small for a 1g. It's actually right between the both of them

First off, you need to make sure that your intake manifold ports match up in size to your head ports, or there won't be a better choice at allr.

Once you get your intake manifold ports portmatched with the head ports, you can buy some of the cork gasket sheet and cut your own gasket based on your intake mani/head port size.

Yes, the manifold will be port matched.


I am just unsure what gasket to use. Is cork better than paper or are they the same things?

In my honest opinion, permatex ultra gray rtv is the best gasket choice. Cork material wont hold under boost and paper gaskets have been known to blow under high boost. Ultra gray has been holding well on my car for a couple of years with as much as 30+ psi.
