I was wondering if anyone ever got a crack in the gel coat of their hood. If so, did you send it back to VIS or did you get it repaired somehow (which I doubt).

I was also thinking about haveing a bodyshop repair it and just have it painted over the repaired part and having some of the carbon fiber still showing.

I am really hoping somone ele has had this happen and VIS replaced it.

I've never seen that happen on a VIS hood.

In AZ where it's 110 in the summer I saw someones hood where it cracked but it was el-cheapo CF hood.

I can't believe im about to admit this.... but, i forgot to latch the pins one day after a setion in the garage and took off down the block for a test pull or two... thats right you can guess what happened... anyways it didn't crack the gell coat but it fried the bracing underneeth so i just had a CF shop lay a couple layers over the breaks and repaint it but that back to your question, you should be able to sand down the gell coat and reaply it, if that doesnt work then you can always use vinal cover up.

i had a small rock coem up adn spyder web miune at my vent and i am getting the hood sanded down re cleared and then re carbon adn khamaleon

I hit the wall at a circle track race and cracked the side of my VIS hood. In order to save money, I had the hood repaired and partially painted until I can get another one or paint the whole thing. Turned out better than I expected and I might just keep it that way until the car gets repainted. See sig.

Yep.I have the Extreme GT hood.I have had it for about a year, and its got a lot of cracks in the clear coat
. the hood was never hit with anything the cracks just started to appear.I wanted to replace it with the same style hood because of the vents and I really like the way it looks, but I really dont want to replace my hood every year.I dont trust VIS anymore.I'm thinking maybe fiberimages.
