So a couple problems popped up today. and a couple good things

i got a Hy-35*i think it's that* in for 200$, I ordered a Lc-1+ innovations wideband and logger system, Bought a maf-t with 3" gm maf,new plugs and wires, new oil And a palm logger.

Now that bad.

first thing.. I"m cruising down the road doing 80km/h and I smell something funny.. so I pull over and here i am pissing a little stream of oil from the oil filter housing, SHIT we didn't tighten it properly obviously. So I have a road side guy come with some oil, and such he tightens up me housing for me(wouldn't let me use is tools) NOW before this my oil pressure was also "normal" after this guy torques on the bolt and puts oil in and such.

My oil gauge reads no between zero-the half way(on the stock gauge) and bouncing in there. Moves as I accelerate or de-accl. But still is freaking me out!. My oil levels are fine.. I can't hear ANY lifter tick. The compression is 158 in every cylinder SPOT on. Is my stock gauge shitting out.. the sender is where the oil was being sprayed on.

Next I'm going down the road and I have a narrow band YES IT CAME WITH THE CAR... the car I do a wot pull and it goes to lean really hard.. and the engine stutters and feels vibrate. The minute full boost and it's rich again shuts up and it's perfectly fine.

Also since my oil problem and replacing the plugs my car idles up and down up and down, between 1100-1500rpm..

Check all of your vacuum lines and make sure there didnt fall off,if they did that would cause your car to idle up and down

Fixed my idle. but my oil pressure is still funky... I cleaned out the connecter and that fixed it a bit.. but not fully.. everything is getting oiled fine.. no lifter tick and no knock or nothing in 2 days now

What...ok so your oil filter was loose and leaking?

Or was it the oil filter adapter [which is bolted to the block by 12mm bolts] the thing that was leaking?

if it was the adapter then you might need to get a new gaskit for the oil filter housing to stop the leak

also on the oil pressure gauge, the guy that tightened the [adapter or filter] may have loosened the wire that the oil pressure sender connects to check to make sure that there is no wires hanging down there by the oil filter.

Okay, Let me help you.

The oil FILTER has a bolt that it screws onto and it came loose., Thus for making the oil filter HOUSING leak. What size of bolt is that?. If the Mechanic tighted it to much could this make oil pressure low?

The oil pressure gauge I'm not retarded and I clearly stated I cleaned up the wires and such and it was a bit better..

did you run a compression test, to see if your piston rings are sealing good?

[if you dont have a compression tester, you could rent one from an auto shop.]

this type of symtom is usally solved in this order by most mechinics.

cause cure
1. check the oil dipstick. [a no brainer] / if low add oil.
2. a short in the wiring curcuit./ [as in loose wires etc.]/check wires.
3. it could be a faulty oil pressure sender. /test or replace sensor.
4. worse case you could have worn engine bearings or a faulty oil pump.

I hope this helps, it is a rather standard way to find a cure for low oil pressure, most easy stuff listed first.

you could also have some grime in there that is messing with the oil sensors reading,
in which case ,you could, have a shop flush out the engine and see if it makes things better.
[noteOMGn #4 {:worse case} it usally is the crank bearings that fail on dsm before the oil pumps ,which are vary reliable stock.

The oil pressure sending unit could be faulty. I know you said you checked the connector that connects to the oil pressure sending unit but the wire could be brittle somewhere in the harness which runs with the alternator wires. As for the studder your car is making and your a/f gauge reading lean just add some more fuel. I have a maft gen2 which is a little different than the first gen but it works the same.

1-I have 159compression accross the board even
2-I have good oil
3-I did the test where you ground your wire out. and if the needle shoots to high your sender is out. Well Mine shot to high.. I'm gonna put a new sender in.

could having that oil housing bolt to tight cause me to have low oil pressure.. also whats the stock torque spec

The prcedure for tightening the oil filter. all you need to do is screw the filter on [Note:by hand] just till its rubber like seal makes contact with the filter housing. then give it a 3/4 turn and it should seal.:thumb:

assuming the threds on the filter housing are not striped.

Do you read anything I post? OIL FILTER HOUSING BOLT . Not that oil FILTER, But the bolt that it attaches on too. The torque spec and if it's to tight can it cut oil pressure.

I changed my coolant housings last night. torqued to 33 pounds(say that was the torque spec on this site somewhere) And everything is going good so far.

I have never tight the bolts by Torque them.
I don't know what's the torque specs, But, IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH OIL PRESSURE.

If it is tight, As far the housing doesn't crack then you are OK, leave that like that.

Now.

How much Oil did you loose at when you notice the leak?. Or how much Oil did the guy put in?.

If your engine run with almost nothing of oil,, I would say that, you run your bearing with out lubrication, which a premature failure will occur.

Symptoms of a failure Bearing are.

Knock, and Loose of OIL PRESSURE,

I hope you just have a dead pressure sensor, But after you install it, if it still low, then you might have a damage Bearing.

whats normal oil pressure should be*psi*...

I'm sure my car just doesn't like our roads out here*it's like driving down PURE wash board all day* the car hates it!.. i'm gonna see if maybe the oil pressure sensor is clogged? whats the best way to clean it out? Also I've read about porting my oil relief valve? whats this all about
