Couldn't brake boost at the track?

Is nitrous the only way to help spool? Can meth do the same thing? I can't afford a nitrous kit or a meth kit. But I can afford to make my own injection kit. If I only need to use it to help spool (before launching) then a simple direct injection by toggle switch would be easy to put together.

Meth injection does nothing to make your car faster, speed up spool, or launch harder. All it does is cool down your intake temps and allows you to run significantly more timing, which is where the added horsepower comes in. No similarity between what nitrous does and what meth does.

Really..Why doesn't antilag work for auto's, can someone fill me in please?

I tried stutterbox out for fun on mine at 3k. The rpm cut is so slow that you really don't build much boost.
Anti-lag runs much lower timing(ex -5*) and never tried it.
I think if you can find the timing cells on your timing map that you are launching at and do some experimenting with lowering the numbers, there should be something to gain imho

I may be looking into a high-stall converter soon. I just don't have the cash to buy the converter and then get the labor done. And who knows how good the tranny still is. It has 115k on it.

My 92 has less than 100k on the clock..No slipping or nothing. It does like to go into gear hard but I made it that way, so it's ok.. Auto trannys are really easy to rebuild..You could probly rebuild it yourself for a couple hundred bucks, with aftemarket valve body and shift kit..

You need torque to get up on the stall, and timing makes torque. If you retard the timing too much like with anti-lag you won't have enough torque and it will stall lower. That is why Anti-lag does not work on an auto. You can use it to change the way the car behaves at higher load levels during stall but it doesn't work the same as it does on a 5 speed.

Here's my suggestions. Your exhaust gases was not warm enough for it to spool quickly. Your'e egts was to cold . So by pre-boosting the car by putting it in gear and holding the brake you can warm the exhaust up. Then go up and stage. I have had the identical problem. I have learned to stall it for a few seconds before getting to the tree . Or you have to drive it too get it hot. Your wife was correct! I can stall quickly and hard when warm. But if it gets to warm and the engine is to hot then you will get the exact same effect. I run a big transmission cooler. So it all comes down to getting the E.G.T just right.
If you want to help this issue get a turbo header they heat way faster and will cause you to get quicker spool times from a cold motor.:thumb:

This is good information. I do think I allowed the car to cool down too much in between races. I'm going to try and go back in June. I need that 12 second pass. It drives me crazy that every time I go to the track there is some thing wrong with my car.
