Cooling fan relay location

Hello to all from a newbie. The new to me DSM (1990 Talon TSI AWD) has had the cooling fan rewired with only a toggle switch and I am trying to locate the original cooling fan relay to use and the factory temperature switch that should be used so that the fan comes on correctly and doesn't rely on me "turning it on" with that lame toggle switch. Can anyone point me in the right direction? The car came with a Chiltons manual but they are nothing like a Factory Service Manual like I have for my other cars, kind of vague in area's. The previous owner left alot of connectors still on the car along with relays (I think they were more clueless than me) and I would like it to work automatically like it should. Thank you for any help.

Thank you for the links, they are helpful but didn't ever say where the thermo switch is at. Is it in the radiator, or is it mounted to the engine somewhere? That toggle switch stuff is not for me, so I just want to find the thermo switch and the fan relay and rewire everything. Thanks again for the help, its much appreciated.

Well I've looked at the radiator and I can't find a switch anywhere. Where shud I be looking for a threaded hole for the switch? Thanks everyone. Puzzled.

On a 1g usually the thermo switch is on the bottom of the radiator.

Yep I found it but the PO has the car wired up so funky that it isn't being used. I just want the sensor to turn on the fan when it is suppose to. Currently the PO has a toggle switch on the single fan to turn it on or off but you have to watch the temp gauge and not forget so I want the car to turn it on when it knows it needs it. When I get my Factory Service Manuals maybe i can figure out the wiring and now that I know where the fan switch is I just need to locate the fan relay, is it in the big fuse box?? Thanks

Fan relays are in the small box, drivers side, by the firewall.

Not 100% sure about the 1990 since it was an odd ball, but here is how it is on the 1991 which may be similiar.
