Coolant or water

Do i mess up my engine or anything else in any way possible if i dont use coolant and just use only water in my radiator? quick question!

Yeah rust if straight water. Is this for short term or long term?

Water only is usually only for certain types of racing (like in the motorcycle classes ran by NESBA around here) in those races we have to drain our coolant and run water only incase we wreck and spill on the track as water cleans up a hell of a lot easier than anti-freeze.

But run the right mix of coolant unless a race organization makes you run water only... and then ONLY run distilled water or you'll get nasty deposits in the engineand radiator. Plus "coolant" increases the boiling temp of water as well as keeps it from freezing in the winter which can crack your block in some cases.. for a street driven car you want a real anti-freeze and water mix (alwys use distilled water even when mixing too)

Don't forget to mention that coolant also helps lubricate things such as the water pump.

Antifreeze is supposed to be mixed 50/50 never run it pure. Dont waste your money buying the pre-mixed stuff either.. You pay $9 for a gallon that someone already mixed half full of water (rip off), or buy a gallon of pure for $11. that you actually get 2 gallons out of once mixed (better buy). Walmart has distilled water $.89 a gallon.

Don't forget to mention that coolant also helps lubricate things such as the water pump.

Actually the bearing in the water pump is a sealed bearing. IF coolant or water gets in the bearing than it will fail quickly.
