So I recently started leaking coolant on my 2G gst , it’s coming from a pipe above the alternator . I’ve looked through the forums but couldn’t find a good thread about it . How could I fix I this . I read that you have to take out the Water pump and therefore the timing belt and all that , but I also read that you just need to unbolt the thermostat housing and change the O ring … how could I fix this ?

If you dont know the age of the waterpump, I recommend just replacing the timing belt and water pump now. Also with all of that oil sludge on the pipe you probably also have a valve cover leak that could be contaminating the belt
Thanks Chrysler kid , i dont know the age of the water pump , I know the timing belt is good , i recently did valve cover gasket it was leaking but it’s good now . I heard you can do this without removing the manifold

I would say yes, it's likely you can get the pipe out without removing the manifold. You still have to undo some lines. I'd rather do the timing belt and water pump.

Yeah i Got to it and replaced both O rings , no leaks now . It would’ve messed up my alternator if I kept running it . Yeah i Would’ve but money is tight this thing has been taking all my money 😂 for now it just needed that water pipe . Timing belt is good 👍🏽 One more question btw , For the thermostat housing I heard there’s no gasket for it and you have to use mitsubishi sealant or rtv , I didn’t have any of that stuff and had to resort to using the black rtv sealant , it’s for oil I guess I used that one on my oil pan gasket , but would it work fine for the thermostat housing ?

I would read the rtv package.

For future reference, even though the 2g engine in its stock form used sealant to seal the thermostat housing to the head, there is an OEM gasket that can be used for this purpose. (It came stock on EVOs):
Yes I was looking for it at local parts stores but since my main issue was my coolant pipe I had to use what I had to seal the housing back … would black rtv gasket maker work ? I know it’s supposed to be the grey one but they didn’t have it either 🤦🏽‍♂️
