So after inspecting the motor to figure out how difficult it would be to to remove the trans with out taking the motor out I noticed a coolant leak from the head gasket, its a new mls head gasket, and the head and block were resurfaced, so i know its not due to scaring on either. But what is the cause for the leak would it leak because I torqued down too much, also I don't have a head alignment dowel from the side the leak is coming from. The old one broke off and I couldnt get one from the dealer and I have no idea where to get one, so I went with out it, I just built the motor and it hasnt run yet due to the motor locking up because I installed the torque converter wrong. (I attached it to the motor first instead of lining it up with the trans first.) So what should I do to fix the leak issue should I scrap the mls and go with the other type of head gasket, or redo the head bolt torque process and see what happens.

As I was reading the topic I was wondering about the head alingment dowle. As this helps keeps the gasket in place from moving and also helps seat the head in proper placement. I would look at this as step one. Now onto the torque of the head bolts did you go in the correct pattern? and are these new or used head bolts?

Can any one tell me where to get this dowel cause dealer doesn't offer it anymore. and the head bolts are new ish I had the motor rebuilt a bit over a year ago and have only put 25,000 miles on them I cleaned them and checked for any stretching or stress marks. All the bolts were fine and I have a 6 or 7 multi layer steal head gasket.

## prob gonna have to look at a junk yard find a junk motor and pull one out would be my guess. You might be able to call dsm graveyard they might be able to find you something I would deff try those guys
