Oil leak between head and block?

I have a 96 GS and it just started leaking oil. It seems to leak out of the back passenger side right in between the block and head. I think there is a pressurized oil jacket there. Im hoping its just a head gasket. There isnt any coolant in the oil and vise versa.

Anyone else ever have this problem?

Im going to pull the head this weekend and check it out. How much time am I looking at? Im fairly mechanically inclined. The book said 8 hours but Im sure it wont take that long.

Any tips or recomendations for doing this project? Im a former Honda owner and pretty new to the DSM side.

The usual problem is a design flaw in the engine, the usual solution is selling it and buying a turbo car. Not trying to be harsh, I guess you could keep changing the head gasket every couple years.
