Converting from a Talon to an Eclipse [Merged 3-8]

Dude dont do that. There arent as many talons out there as there are eclipses and that makes them original, why would you take the only difference between the two away?

Exactly! Why did you buy a Talon in the first place. Why are all these Talon converts anyways? If your that worried about the body, buy a #@%#@%#@%#@%ing Eclipse. Same insurance, price may vary slightly. But why waste the time and money to convert it? Ether way you still have a Talon. No matter how hard you make it look like a Eclipse...... your Vin still reads Eagle. Want to change that too?!?!

I personally like the stock look of the Talon, all though the low profile of a 95-96 GST/GSX looks awsome as #@%#@%#@%#@%. Only Eclipse I would really like to have is the '99 GS OZ racing edition. Looks great, but no turbo! GRRRR.

Don't do it man. Save for a turbo system.... or trade for Eclipse. Don't waste the time and hard earned money on something so pointless.

Yeah i know i thought about that also when i went on a trip to the beach all the talons there were stock and had no body kit on them so im not going to , if i do anything its going to be a totally different conversion

Yes, especially since you have the 97-98 body style, the 95-96 talon however needs a 97+ conversion I think, but I think the same about the 95-96 eclipse too. I love the 97+ talons and eclipse. I was thinkin about buying a conversion kit for mine, so I could have a 97+ eclipse for 6 months, then when I get bored go back to talon. I wouldnt change the wing however.

on asylumms under the eclipse section there is a new bumper they made its called neo something and im going to get type x side skirts...... yeah im putting grill inserts in my front bumper there is just some black piece in my way once i figure out if i can take it out im going to

97-99 sideskirts
97-99 headlight
97-99 reverse light
97-99 turbo wing or keep stock
95-99 taillights
97-99 Foglight w/ brackets

here is the sitre for the rear bumper for the front it just mainly bolts on. Just make sure to get 97-99 headlights with that front bumper or you will have a noticablegap.

I have a 1995 Eagle Talon tsi awd, I recently got a deal on a stock 97+ eclipse turbo bodykit from a guy who got a f&f look alike body kit. Couldn't refuse since spoiler+fogs+front/rear+sideskirts+taillights for $150.

My questions are;

1. where can i get a good deal on a 97+ eclipse head lights or proj. lights.
2. from what i understand the bumper from a 97+ eclipse should bolt right on to the mounts of the 95 dsm, any say on this?
3. fogs, would the fogs be bolt on replacement for the 95-96 fogs?
4. side skirts, i understand that holes need to be drilled into the quarter panel side to get them to fit. Are there any other reliable way to do this? or has anyone done this before and know where to drill.
5. i got one of those high stock spoiler thats one piece. how tough would it be to put these on?
6. i understand that the rear tail lights of a eclipse would be bolt on to the talon. if not, please let me know.

I plan to have this painted by a friend of mine and do the fitting by my self. any suggestions would be great.

my boy just finished this exact conversion, although he took it to the shop...you could easily do it yourself, he's just too lazy...everything fits up perfectly, his car looks exactly like a gsx...i would suggest putting the doorcaps that go to the 97-99 body though, this will help the appearance...as for drilling into the quarter panels, you don't need to, unless you mean towards the back inside the wheel well, other than that its just a bunch of clips holding it on as far as i know...fairly simple conversion, and for $150, you can't lose...

oh my fault, the pieces that mount to the bottom of the door to make the door flush with the sideskirt...thats the best way i can describe it...if you look at one you'll see what i mean

Wouldn't the taillights operate differently than a "true" Eclipse after you did the conversion? Or is this solved with a different harness?

i think the harness is same both for eagle and mitsu. I'll make sure to post this after i finish the conversion this winter
