ok...ive decided on some eagle rods for my engine build, but my question is do I want a short stroke rod or a longer stroke...I'm looking for whatever is going to give me the most horsepower and the best power transfer..ive tried searching for similar topicd and found nothing so I apologize if this is a repost

What car do you have? I have some eagles for sale (7 bolt though) if you're interested. Also, I personally never heard of rods that come in different sizes for the same motor.

ive got a 95 420a...so i dont think yours would work on my engine

I am not aware of what is available as far as longer/shorter rods, but heres the deal. Longer rods are better for high rpm horsepower where as shorter rods creat more low end torque. Here is the issue, you cant just throw in a longer rod an expect it to work, somwhere in the bottom end you need to account for that extra length, usually through a piston with less compression height. If you have any more questions, just ask, I am willing to explain anything you want to know.

You cant change your rod length without lots of major modifications to your engine (custom pistons, shorter stroke crank, etc.) And just changing the r/s ratio is not going to give you more high rpm horsepwer or more low rpm torque. I would recommend stock length connecting rods for your engine build.

Ditto. The rods that you might be confused about could be for the long rod motor that Magnus employs on its 2.4 motors. The stock rod length for a 4G63 2.0 motor is 150mm. The long rods are 156mm. However like you stated, you have a 420A motor, and nothing is transferable. Stick with the stock length rods for your application.

I've got a set of barely used 2G Pauter rods that should work for you. If someone here can confirm that they will work for you. Wiseco seems to think so. I need $550.00 for them. You'll never break them.

PM if your interested.
