I was assembling the bottom end of my engine today (4g63) 6-bolt block 7-bolt crank and 7-bolt rods. I am having binding when I tighten the main bearing cap down.
It came to my attention that each rod has a number on it. Right now I have them in order from right to left starting at 1 on the transmission side ending at rod number 4 on the timing side. Does anyone think that this could be the problem to my binding? I should be able to turn the crank by hand all the pistons freely move about the cylinders and the crank rests beautifully in the block with bearings in but when I torque down the main cap it binds bad and is not even turnable by socket wrench.
Any opinions or answers to my misfortune? WTF
