Really depends on how much you wanna spend. An AFC isn't what I would recommend for tuning considering there are many limitations. A Eprom and V3 is going to cost you around $600 but provides every option you will ever need for tuning. It really comes down to how much you have to spend. Id say get v3 over any piggyback. (even tho v3 is still considered a piggyback)

Youll need a eprom or have it changed to one by ecmlink if you get link, afc to me outdated I never used it, its up to you which route to go any questions on ecmlink can all be found on the website.

I need advice on deciding to keep my non-EPROM and get an AFC or get an eprome ecu and run V3?

This isn't even a question? If I am correctly interpreting your thought, I'll go ahead and say that ECMlink V3 (light or full) is far superior to an AFC (as you say, which is the outdated old school version), or SAFC for that matter.

You should elaborate on what your trying to do, what your goals are, and also update your profile with a mod list so others can actually give you an educated response. One sentence doesn't really do much for anyone, especially when it barely makes any sense.

I agree with the recommendation but the comment is incorrect. DSMLink is not a piggyback. It's a modification to the factory ECU.

Exactly. Without knowing a lot more information it's impossible to provide educated answers. I can think of plenty of cases where an SAFC might be all that required and the cheapest solution. Without knowing where 92tsi4x4 is going I can't recommend anything.

I apologize for asking incorrect questions if you've went as far to see my mods list you'll also see I have very few posts and am new to this site. I haven't figured all of the forum functions out yet so please cut me some slack. My build is at ground zero. I have the whole drivetrain out and I plan on rebuilding/restoring the entire car. The reason my question above is so misguided is I wanted to hear people's opinions on the parts so I know what parts to stay away from. I'm a good mechanic just new to dsm world. Again sorry for the dumb questions

If budget isn't a big concern, DSMLink will give you more options later, even if you don't need them now. The SAFC only changes the air flow signal to the computer. If all you are doing is running a slightly larger injector, it would probably be enough. But with more mods later, you will most likely have to get DSMLink or some other tuning device anyway.
